My 4Runner met a early death...

I'll spare you the details. I was not with it when this happened but luckily no one was hurt.

The frame is bent and cracked up front it looks like. Ugh I loved this truck too! I am shock how well it took the hit from a cabin protection view. So now I have to shop for a new 4th gen, 5th gen or 4door wrangler. If I could fix this I would but I don't see how that's even possible.

Glad you're ok, but sorry to see the carnage.

One thing that springs to mind in those pictures - that was a heck of a hit, and the roof carrier stayed on without torpedoing off the front of the truck. Good mounts on that thing!

Did the airbags go off? Was the condenser or radiator punctured? How many miles are on it? It looks fixable to me, just have to find the donor parts. A lot of these parts are now offered aftermarket.

The insurance company will definitely "total" it. Negotiate your best settlement and after you agree on a price come back with "How much less can I get if I keep the truck?". Usually its around 15% and this also keeps the title normal if you do repair it instead of it being a rebuilt title if the insurance company takes it and then its repaired. If you don't want to mess with the repair yourself, its very likely you someone who will give you more than the insurance company will charge you to keep it.

Glad your body wasn't in there when it happened- looks like a hell of a stiff neck.

After seeing how well the ol' girl took that hit, I'd be in the market for a 4th gen 4Runner...

HOWEVER- if you do decide to give the Jeep a try, I highly recommend trying to find one of those couple day test drive deals... I like driving one every now and again, but when my wife had one I HATED that thing. Granted it was a few years older, but it was SLOW, constantly flashing at me to shift, rode and handled like crap, and was LOUD.
 
Glad to see YOU are okay and thats what really matter. A car is replaceable. .just not with a JEEP. Haha Kidding but good luck shopping!!

I have the space and time and I was truly thinking of buying it back. The front of the from looks toast? But this would give me the chance to buy a are and some other goodies. The interior (minus the airbags) was untouched.
 
Wow! Glad it kept everyone safe... 4runners are tough! They do better in crashes than wranglers, although the four door models don't do to badly. My dad was in an accident back when my fj was his ride, and it totalled the other car, and only had cosmetic damage. I've see a 5th gen 4Runner after a bad crash and it held up super well. If I were you I would look at a 4th or 5th gen 4Runner...

Glad to hear that the occupants were okay.

It looks like the front bumper somehow didn't make contact, which didn't allow it to absorb some force and transfer it to the crumple zones. Curious why that happened. Was the impact with a vehicle that was higher than the 4Runner?
 
Threads like this remind me why I drive a 4runner and not a Kia econobox; sometimes an extra 10mpg just isn't worth it. I was recently 'thinking' about getting a smaller Acura SH-AWD car for better fuel economy and whatnot, but after seeing how well these rigs hold up in accidents I don't think I'll replace mine with anything other than a new 5th gen.
 
Given that the pass front wheel is not tweaked, bet the front end is ok. Just the front frame horn, radiator support and the usual body panels.
