My 4runner seems very slow

My previous E90 330i sport pckg was fast, BUT slower than my
4runner. With the crappy roads in my town, I was always having
To slow down avoiding pot holes. Specially since it did not have a spare tire thanks to those run flats which eventually got replaced with regular tires to
imrove the jarring ride (once again crappy roads).

Some cars adjust to your driving behavior and after some
miles/time they will calibrate the shift points. When I drove the t4r out of the lot,
I had the same thoughts as the OP. after a couple of months i had no
More complaints. Same thing would happen with
My wife's ML350 after it got serviced, it seemed as if they did a software
Upgrade or something. It would never drive the same
as before bringing it in.
 
The Trail has a wind brake up front to assist Crawl Control :boink:

The Limited is faster since the hood is more aerodynamic and the leather seats are slippery quick :)

Slow and steady wins the race.
 
What im learning is that the ecu enters a certain mode based on your initial level of aggressiveness with the throttle. If you are lazy with the throttle acceleration is gonna be tepid. If you go deeper with the throttle initially, acceleration improves significantly.

What I really like about the new runner compared to the 05 is the size, perfect size for my needs. Also, the new dash / interior is much improved, feature wise as well as materials quality. The new shape (to me) is more masculine. Right now in mixed driving im averaging 19.3 so thats pretty good.
Thinking of doing some light mods. Maybe some led interior lights, a more aggressive tire &rim combo, spidertrax spacers, and window tint.

Where did you see that? I'm at about 700 miles on mine and I've been using the sport mode to vary the revs and hold it at something higher than 2k (which is about as high as the normal mode will let it go as best I can tell),but still below about 4k. As I learned it, it was more important to vary the revs over the first 1000 miles than anything else, but should I be letting it stretch out more slowly?

(Nevermind the fact that the other 98% of T4R drivers pay no attention to the break-in process - we'll stress over it for our own edification apparently).

I heard if you attach 3 cans of starting fluid and a lit propane torch to said wind brake it behaves like a scramjet capable of breaking mach

I'm assuming your question is serious despite the slightly sarcastic overtones some might think this thread carries. Yes, this is both normal and surprising. That is one thing that drives some people nuts about the CC (sorry philsey) in hilly situations.

Manual under Break-In. With today's machining processes, most likely not an issue. However, moving parts do require some break-in time without over-revving engine
 
Trade in the 4runner for a Porsche cayenne if you want more power. Apparently that is what you thought you were buying to begin with.

This! Coming from a V6 '08, the aggressive early upshifts are what bother me the most. My '08 was actually pretty peppy and the shift strategy was rather nice. No so on my new one.

Even with my fast color black, the slowness has caused me to only go 192,000 miles instead of 384,000.
