My 4th gen build

Hey all, figured I would document some of the things I've done to my rig here!

Here we go...

My first picture of my new to me 2006 V8 4WD Sport.

My first "mod" was getting my wheels painted matte black at a friends body shop.

After driving around like that for a while, I decided my ride height was way too low. On went a Daystar lift!

Not wanting to look like I skipped leg day, on went some All-Pro 1.5 inch wheel spacers and LT275/70/17 BFG KO2's!

Decided I "needed" an ARB awning. So I installed that and used it that same weekend.

I built a sleeping platform and got a folding full size memory foam mattress and me and the girlfriend sleep pretty good now!

Well, that's all I can think of right now. Future changes will be new suspension and 4xinnovation rock sliders. After my tires wear out I plan on getting 285's as well. We plan on making a trip out west sometime to do some off roading/camping, hopefully soon!

Nice-looking ride. Glad to see your using it. I would ask your buddy to scuff the chrome on the grill and paint it to match wheels.

I found a color matched grille. If you look at the pics toward the bottom you'll see it looks much better than chrome!

Thanks!

Next on the upgrades was a head unit with SIRIUSXM and backup camera capabilities.

I decided on a Pioneer AVH-X391BHS. I got the Metra install kit, steering wheel controller, and SIRIUSXM tuner as well.

For a backup camera, I just went with a Pyle camera off of Ebay for around $17. It works pretty well though! Comes on when shifted into reverse and also can choose "camera view" on the head unit. A lot of wiring had to be done, but in the end it was worth it.

Looks great! Anymore details on the sleeping platform build? Did you mount the awning to your factory roof rack main bar?

I don't have many details regarding the platform build. Just measure alot and cut once! I'll look to see if I have any pics during the build.

As far as the awning mounts; yes, it is installed to the factory roof rack. I was in O'reillys one afternoon grabbing some grease and came upon these "rugged ridge light mounts" for $3.50 a piece on a clearance rack.

I got some bolts and shouldered washers and bolted the awning up to these. I only have 2 right now, and may have to find 2 more to feel more "secure" but it doesn't move and holds up great!

Just finished this up today. I found a universal cargo net at a garage sale for $1. It was a little too strechy so I got some para cord and wound that around it and removed the strechy chord and installed it on the roof!

Home made attic for less than $3.:hat:

Had some lights laying around the garage. Finally found a good use for them. They work great camping as well as groceries/loading up the cargo area. Got a switch mounted in the cargo area to run them.

This looks great! Any pics or description of how you attached it in the back? Thanks!

Awesome idea. Is there anyway you could get a shot of the light output at night of these? Thanks

A few weeks ago I installed my new suspension. I removed the 181K mile XREAS with daystar lift and put in my 5100's with MOOG FJ coils. Also installed 2017 4runner UCA's that were taken off after around 1000 miles The ride is sooooo much better!

Crappy picture of the front of the rig after install.

I also picked up some 5th gen SR5 wheels and bed lined them. They'll be getting installed with some 285's this winter.:becky:
