Kind of confused, if you turn the lights on and the gauges go dim and the GPS goes dark like it should, (making sure the dial isn’t set all the way up) what does this do? Seems it has all been done already?

Took 5 minutes (and $6)...
Works great in my ‘16 Trail Premium.
Thanks, OP!
Makes me wonder what other sort of mods might be available for models with pre-wired sensors..
I was replacing the rear door speakers last weekend, and noticed that my 2015 TEP appears to have temperature sensors installed behind the door panel. I don't recall the front doors but guessing maybe there also.
So somewhere there's a signal that could enable auto climate control even though we actually have only the big knobby manual system.
Any other sensors that might be in place but dormant.. Or non-dormant features just waiting for a sensor to be plugged in...
when it’s bright outside, say a light rain is in the forecast, and you live in a state where you have to have your headlights on with the wipers, it’s annoying to have everything dim in the middle of the day...this little mod fixes that problem.
I'd looked at this thread a few times and almost ordered one, but thought it was pretty easy just to spin the wheel for brightness. Then, my wife drove the 4R after dark this weekend and picked me up. Her dash lights were full on bright (since I'd last left the brightness wheel on bright override), and she'd been driving that way over the Santiam Pass for 2 hours! I said something like "how can you stand the dash lights so bright" (I'll never learn) and she complained that the car should do that feature itself. So, here I am back at this thread, and just ordered the one from Illinois (paypal receipt in Chinese) hoping my 2018 TRDORP will be as plug and play as the OP!
rookie mistake. lol
Not a rookie, I'm just just dumb. We've been married 32 years!
