Probably because he has extensive mods, smaller dimensions over a 4th gen and solid front axle.

Damn bro. Nice ride.....I think I can take you when it comes to getting muddy. But as far as the rocks go.....looks like you own that one. I would love to have something like that.

nice rides. now how do i get my 4th gen on 39.5 inch tires. sounds expensive.

This has been done with Land cruiser 90 and 120 series, which have the same frame as the 4th gen if I'm not mistaken.
At least the same front suspension.
Should be able to just lift it on body by 4" and cut a whole lot from the fender flares, and maybe lift it on coils abit, 1" or 2".
OR just move the front wheel system down by 2"-6" and the body up by 4" - 2"

Easier to fit 38s groundhawk or something similar than 39,5s :)

But of course, you're prolly lookin' for a more "americanized" way than that "tiny" lift. lol :) (no offense tho')

If you're interested in knowin' more. PM me and I can send you pics n' stuff. :)

Keep on wheelin'!

I love the look of those rigs in the snow - huge fat tires are just cool. Ulfr - very nice! Wonder how much they re-gear? Makes me want to take a spy shot of the guy down the street - he has 44's on a 3rd gen and miles of lift. I just never see it out of the driveway?

Monster 4 Runner thread would be great.

Pfft... Been done in Iceland (on Prado altho' but the same frame whatso ever...)
And no miles of lift, 4" body and c.a. 4" on coils...

'Bout regearin', I got mine on 4.56:1 but I'd like to put it 4.88:1.
But I have diesel version, if I had the V6/V8 I'd keep it at 5.29:1.

(shamless plug: take a look at my gallery thread if ya'd like to see more pics... I'm redesignin' the rear suspension now...)

it goes out of the driveway

This is the only video I have of it, a while back when it was my daily drive (thus why it has 39 iroks on it in the video) yeah, 44's kill the gas milage, haha 39's were so much better(not) on gas... anyway had to go pull someone out and ended up playing a little, shallow mud, but it's about all we have up here at school.

Nice truck....How do you keep the axle shafts alive with the 44's on it??? Out here they would break like toothpicks....LOL I break mine seems like once a year even with Alloys. Everybody around here says to throw some 60's under it.....but then it woudnt be Toyota....LOL

Eh? I know that the rear axle shafts are weak... Plan on full floater conversion soon. But I've once broken an axle shaft... And that shaft was over 10 years old....

I guess that I'll break a shaft once each 2 years or so... But I can't really understand why people think that D60 has any stronger axle shafts... Actually upgraded shafts in D60 are 'bout the same as the alloy ones in 8" toyota...
Full floatin' is 'bout the same strength in both housings....
The 3rd member is what's stronger in D60 :)

If you are breakin' axle shafts very often, maybe want to take a look at how you (ab)use the truck or check the shafts...

Stock D60's are really no stronger than a upgrade Toyota 8" But since I own a off road shop our D60's are never stock.....A Toyota axle is weak compared to a D60 with 35 spline alloy shafts....

EDIT: We have nothing but traction in the rocks here in AZ. Really you dont have to try that hard to break stuff.....People destroy longfields all the time around here.....When you have 2 T-cases and 5.29 gears.....and are in double low things get bound up in a hurry....next thing you know BOOM....LOL Been wheeling for almost 20 years now.....I think I know how my driving style is by now.

Yes. But with FFC on an 8" k the axle shafts are no longer something to worry 'bout. (as much) I'd still always be worried if I had semi-floatin' in the rear. (which I do, and I worry losin' the tire once more while runnin 60-80mph on the road...)

Rocks DO take more on the axle shafts than snow. But it can get pretty serious when crawlin' through ice...

But with all that gearin' I understand 'bit more why you keep turnin' these shafts like bananas...

I still think drivers' habits have alot to say 'bout these things.
But there's one thing that's quite for sure, NOTHING is strong ENOUGH! :D
