my 91 SR5 electronic front hubs are not locking

hey guys...i recently brought a 1991 toyota 4runner SR5 limited....she wat i could ask for....my problem is that the electronic front hubs are not locking when i engage them (by pressing the button in on the transfer gear knob) ive checked the connection in the gear knob and followed it as far as i could in the cab and u can hear the solarnoid working under the car could anyone help me out?????
