My antivirus detects virus's/malware on T4R.ORG

I haven't seen any warnings, but I got a message from my IT department, saying they keep getting virus warnings about my computer. Not sure if it is related, but they want my computer to cleanse it as soon as I go back to work on wednesday. Hmmmmm wonder if it is his site causing the issue?

Try updating your java. For XP, go to control panel - java, then the update tab. I was getting a popup from my anti virus about an Exploit blah blah trojan every time I first opened up this site after booting up.

For whatever reason even though my java settings were supposed to update automatically they hadn't for over a year. I updated them and rebooted and no pop up... Not sure if it's really fixed but so far so good.

I can't even get on it at my CPU at my desk at work; I have to go to the workstation to get on.

I'd say some virus(es) are piggybacking as other have said on the pop ups here or one of the trolls we see now and then has planted a virus on the server through their posting.

+1 with ESET. It is excellent to use.

It's the ad service, guaranteed. At another site I admin, they occasionally sneak through on Google's ad service.

What can/will help the host is if you can view the source; that will identify specifically WHAT ad was spreading the malware, and they can specifically knock that ad out.

I have to admit, though, that the ONLY time I see them is if I'm using Google's Chrome. (Which kinda makse sense.)

I'm betting, in other words, that it's *NOT* on their server.

My 3 PCs for the price of running one Mac are all running fine because I know how to use anti-virus.

Macs are good machines. I used to have a few of them. I just can't justify the cost for the computer I want.

I have my share of them. 2 MBPs, 2 27" desktops (one with a 30" cinema display and the other with a 27" display), and 2 iPads. That doesn't count the iPod I'm trying to sell here, or the 3 iPhones on my wireless plan. I never pay retail - just gotta know how/where to buy.

Use ESET, dump Norton.

Use Maleware Bytes.

Use Firefox + NoScript add-on (this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Run CCleaner daily.

Built a desktop with two graphics cards, 8 gb ram, quad core and, tv card, 5 hard drives, etc etc a couple years ago for way cheap. Imagine how much that's cost on a Mac? And you can't even build a Mac using "their" parts. That was my point.

Understand. I have a corporate account which affords me some discounts, plus a couple other routes around retail pricing. Your point is well made though.
