My Audio Build - Installed Myself

Pioneer Avic-8200NEX
Arc Audio XDi850.5 amp located under the drivers seat.
Focal PS165F speakers in the front and rear. Tweeters located in the dash. Rear tweeters were put in the doors close to the woofer. I made the front speaker mounts out of high density and abs plastic.
JL 12TW3-D4 subwoofer with a box (3/4" MDF) I made and carpeted myself. This is located in the passenger's foot location of the third row. Since there's a car seat there I don't lose cargo space.
Sky High Audio 4AWG amp kit with complete 14AWG speaker and sub wires from the amp.
Front and rear doors are sound deaden with Sound Skins.

This took me a few month to complete (had a newborn in the process) but sounds awesome.

Nice build! How did you get your speaker wires through the door? Was it difficult? Also, how do you like the JL slim sub?

I want to replace my factory wiring too, but haven't figured out how I'm going to fish the new wires through yet.

Thanks

Typically just run the 14ga from amp to the headunit location for the mids and highs and from amp directly to the sub. Most don't run directly from amp to the door speakers themselves. The factory wiring is copper and of sufficient size to be ok.

Looks good man! going to be tackling mine in the next few weeks, weather permitting (the garage is full with other cars lol).

i will be running the flax up front, how is the sound staging with the tweets mounted in the dash? I will probably be mounting mine in the door skin somewhere closer to the mid.

and on the question. I always run wires to the door, especially when amping speakers. I wouldnt feel comfortable running 150 watts per channel through the factory wiring lol. but i typically run 12 awg to the crossover and 14 to the tweet and speaker. just the way i was taught an the way i will always do it.

You should be able to pull them through the factory grommet going to the door.

I ended up replacing all factory wiring with 14 ga for the speakers. I wasn't comfortable pumping 150W through factory wire.

I love the sub right against the car seat. Nothing like a little bass to soothe the kiddo.

awesome!

just last weekend i installed focal iss690 (front), focal 135 (rear) & 12" alpine type-r. the type-r sub is giant (had it from 2000 lol) i need to swap it to one of those new slim subs that are out.

also used secondskin to deaden the doors. yours look great! i did a shitty job :( but does the work.

how do you like the roadkill baffles? thats next on my list. I shouldve just bought it when i was ordering the speakers :P
