IIRC the 03-05s didn't have the hump but in 06 they redesigned the spoiler

Actually, the hump appeared from the '05 and up models. Only the '03 & '04 models escaped the attack of the hump. ;)

Adam~

I had to post in here, as privaete messages limit the # of characters allowed.

I too am uneducated and normally learn from blowing things up and destroying everything in sight.

There are two wires on the 12V and they are not well marked.
I belive the grey is power and the white is ground. I would have though opposite, but it wasnt the case.

Yes, my access route was through the little rectandular cap that pops out in the bottom of the center console. I was able to hide both wires fine, as they will both run undreneath the center/gearshifter and power will extend underneath steering column to the the fuse panel.

The adapter does not come with enough wire to ground or run power to, so you will need crimp on extensions and run them accordingly.

There are multiple places you can insert a fuse tap and get power and any local automotive store will carry fuse taps, but I recommend Napa. You will have to get the small type of fuse taps as they will be used in association with a mini fuse.

I too have read others tapping into the existing power and ground of the OEM 12V, but I have been trying to stay away from doing these things to the OEM stuff, so I dont mess it up.

sant6236,

Congratulations in grabbing a 4th Generation!!

Looks actually like my twin.

I can't tell...are you V6, no double decker & no steering audio controls too? I wish mine came w/ steering wheel audio controls.

Now...it's time to change out the Avatar w/ a picture of the 4th Generation 4Runner.

I hope you still kept the 3rd Generation.

I have a V6 with a doubledecker and SW controls. Of course the SW controls disabled after I replaced the OEM stereo with an aftermarket Kenwood, but the SWI-JACK did the trick and interfaced the two. I now have SW controls again & they light up too.

I raped the 3rd gen and traded it in. Sold near every accessory off of it.

I gotta tell you, that was my real first baby. I miss it.

The radar detector is hardwired. Merely ground one wire (black) and ran the other wire to a fuse by the steering wheel. Used a fuse tap from Napa. Simple.
