My bright moment of the year.

So, recently my rear window switch went out and I bought a replacement from Toyota. When I went to pick it up, it suddenly started working again. That was about 5 months ago. Since then it has intermittently stopped and started working. Today I realized that it's because when I have the window lock on (I take care of my nephews quite a bit) that the rear window locks too. I'm really bright. :banana:

Well, at least I have a spare switch in case it actually does go out at some point.

I just bought a 97 SR5 from a Toyota dealer and when I got home I discovered that the rear door window would not go down using the key in the rear door but does go up and down using the button on the interior console between the seats. When I went back to the dealer and asked to have this fixed they refused. So I said to the salesman, with other customers within ear shot, "so that is it, you aren't going to help me out?" The response was "We will by you a tank of gas." I agreed because here in British Columbia a fill up is about $85 to $90.

I found that out the hard way one day too. I was doing some wiring in the car and had most everything taken out (seats, carpet, console, etc). When I put everything back together again i couldn't get the rear window to go back up (it was down a little). I ended up taking everything out again to see if I forgot to plug a wire back into a connector. Once everything was out again I realized the rear window became disabled when I accidentally hit the window lock button.

Brings back days flight instructing, finding ways to challenge a student by pulling circuit breakers, leaving latches open and plain messing with stuff. Keeps one on their toes prior a FAA check ride where one if not all of the above mention things show up then one must successfully troubleshoot.

Congrats looks like you passed the check ride.

Take your nephew out for a treat from all of us, his mishap taught us all a lesson.

Hahaha. I'm going to follow this thread off topic for a minute...Its guys like you, 8SM, that make flight school interesting. My on-wing took me up for my first flight in the T34-C on Friday. He put in full forward pitch trim, left aileron, and right rudder trim. He kept it at straight and level, then passed me the controls. I couldn't see what he was doing in the back seat so it took me a bit to figure out what he did. I'm just glad we were at 8,000' AGL!

He put in full forward pitch trim, left aileron, and right rudder trim. He kept it at straight and level, then passed me the controls. I couldn't see what he was doing in the back seat so it took me a bit to figure out what he did. I'm just glad we were at 8,000' AGL!

As I often mention to a dear friend of mine, an Olympic medalist. You are in an eliite group of americans which have reached a level of excellence to represent our country. Becoming a military airmen is very competitive, grueling and yet so awarding accomplishment. It's the ultimate wow moment.

Soon you will hang on the knifes edge. Nothing like rolling a T-38 Talon in a tight pattern, low and slow at min. agl. Knowing not many people in this world will ever expeirience that feeling is a privledge and many would love to share if possible.

its ok hepar, ive done this too, i searched for a fuse for hours, i pulled all the interior pannels and roof panel looking for a broken wire, found nothing then one day a few of us guys where going out shooting and one wanted to roll down the window and couldnt so i unlocked his window... then with out thinking about it, i unrolled the rear window casue it was a nice sunny day and what do ya know, it worked. i didnt catch that i was working "again" till we where shooting and i thought some how one of us had shot it out(cause it "didnt work") so i go running over to it and dont see any glass and get in the truck tunr the key on and hit the swtich and up it comes... i felt stupid, but have never told anyone till now, so yeah its ok ive been there, seriously.
