I've been wanting to join the retrofit word for a bit now, and so i took the plunge back in October and ordered everything. Due to some personal issues, I didn't start the project till mid December, and have finally tuned it this past week. Tell me what you think.
It started with ordering these guys, I didn't really want to spend too much money doing my first retro, so this projector fit the bill, not too expensive, and certainly not too experience heavy.
You'll notice that the order is for regular Panamera shrouds, and after looking through other peoples threads, I realized that I liked the look of the halos. So, I ordered a set.
Since everybody is doing a retro, or has done one, everybody already knows how to bake your headlights, but I did mine for 8 min at 160 (lowest my oven can go). Took them apart, and set to work on the projectors:
Definitely like the look of the halos, and the fact that the original shrouds were massive, and would require cutting, I didn't want to do that, and I don't have a dremel.
At this point, I started to cut my headlights at the back to feed the halo wires through, and I messed up bad and accidentally broke one of the mounting tabs for the bulbs so I had to go ahead and order a new housing.
Got it in pretty quickly, and finished up everything.
Got them on the runner, and fired em up, and damn do they look sexy. I really like the chrome housing/shroud with everything else. My dad says that it really modernizes the vehicle, and makes it look much cooler. I agree.
Since these pictures were taken I've adjusted the headlights so they match what they're supposed to be.
Halos have yet to be wired up, just waiting for it to get warmer, we've had an "ice storm" this weekend (weather people are full of crap). They'll get hooked up and be awesome. I've also been thinking about if I want to paint my housings, and if I do I'm thinking about painting just the reflector bowl a darker red to match my paint. I think it'd be pretty cool, and something nobody else has.
Obviously, this is a really awful render of what it could look like, but the point is to kinda blend the chrome into headlight, so this could be a route, but that won't happen till later in the spring.
