Hi all - I wanted to start a thread just to keep a little bit of a timeline of mods/updates to this new rig of ours.
Back in March, my Wife got rear ended in her focus and it got totaled. We ended up replacing it with a mint condition Certified Pre-owned from the local dealer for a price that was actually pretty good. It was 2015 SR5 4wd with 54k miles, currently has 59k miles.
Bit of background on me, I have a 02 4runner that has been with me for the last 11 years. I used to be much more involved on the forums but its taken a back seat, life goes in different directions etc. My 3rd gen has 291k on it and is my daily/weekend warrior camping rig/does anything I want it to without me caring to much. Its great.
Anyway, this 5th gen is the 5th 4runner my family has owned in since '96. For now the 2015 is my wife's daily/dog hauler/backup tow rig/future family hauler etc. It will not see much more than a dirt road or some time in the snow going skiing. Mods will be done accordingly.
As of yesterday, I made a good sized order for some parts based on previous experience for my needs. This is also to get a baseline so I really know where it is at on maintenance @60k miles.
1. Bilstien 5100s all around, front will go up one notch
2. B&M 70264 Aux trans cooler
3. Derale 13011 Oil Thermostat for the aux trans cooler
4. Firestone coil-rite 4135 rear airbags
5. Uni filter for the emissions air pump
6. Aluminum Oil filter cap assembly so the plastic one doest become an issue
7. OEM oil filters + tools + gaskets etc.
I still need to get fluids for an almost complete fluid flush. Engine, Brake fluid, Diffs, Xfer case, Trans. I am not going to change coolant, it can wait for 100k, and I will take a peak at PS, but I doubt that will need anything.
Anyway, thats the start for an awesome rig that should last a very, long time.
