This **** happened to me about 3 months ago in Houston. Insurance would have totaled my truck since Toyota was quoting 2k for the job and I have 360k miles.. I picked up a cat off of a totaled taco, fit like a glove with a cheap price of fitter pipe for autozone. 70 bucks and the job took a half hour.
Should have chased them with a gauge!:whipping2

You are clueless dude. It is not insurance fraud. Once they send you that check for repairs, you can do what you want with the money, at least in CA.

Sorry to hear about your 4Runner. I have heard that LB can be sketchy but I know it has some good parts as well.

when they came that morning they said these guys have been hitting 4runners hard around here and they havent seen anything but call ins.
In my case they actually left a razor knife behind the cops took for prints, only evidence the cops have got from all the cases.
i have been asking around and everyone describes the same silver scion xb, my girlfriends dad is a mechanic and knows alot of people with shops in long beach said he has heard of this scion alot stealing cats... and might know someone who knows who they are
so hopefully something will come up.
also people i have asked all say they came around 6:30 - 7:30 in the morning, same time was was took.
I was thinking of giving it about a week then start driving around at this time to catch them in action again, and get that plate # since they are bound to hit around here again

Any links or experience? i was looking at the magnaflow ones.
i have never been in the market for a cat before so i dont know what route to take :/
the cat itself is a magnaflow. when i ordered it off lce it came in a magnaflow box. I don't think you'd feel much unless you had the header. to be honest with you I replaced everything from the headers to the muffler and got an intake and didn't feel much. Judging by what you're saying though getting the LCE parts seems cheaper than getting them from the factory.

ooh thanks, yeah im pretty sure im going to do the job myself since my insurance will only right the exact check out to the shop if i do it there.

since they cut it so close to the sensor mount i was thinking about getting the whole pipe including flanges

I just registered on this forum because of this post, long-time lurker...I purchased a catclamp, google it. Paid my mechanic $50 to install it. I highly recommend this product. The excess cable used on the product had to be welded off, my mechanic could not cut them with power saw. $200 is cheap insurance vs. having the inconvenience and cost of replacement due to theft. It can happen to anyone in any neighborhood or at any parking lot.

I looked into the cat clamps yesterday, great looking product.
We were thinking of making something like that or a type of skid plate for the entire piping making it impossible to get to the cat.
possibly bolted then tack the bolts in place so i can get it off if needed but keep the thiefs away.
to top it off the bottom would be engraved saying something like Get the **** out, or something in the nature hahah just an idea
