My Costco Coverking seat cover review

Upon purchase of my 3rd gen the seats were in bad shape, especially the drivers side. Being on a budget, I began by swapping the seat bottoms and purchasing some tan and brown colored duct tape from Wal-Mart. I was hoping one of the duct tape shades would be close enough the please the eye, but not so much. I decided to order a set of Coverking "Veloci-vents" from costco.com. The front set was $99 and took just a few weeks to arrive. These are referred to as "spacer mesh" covers on the Coverking website.

Install was easy. For the price I think they are a great value. The back side have pockets, however the pockets seem a bit "baggy" or "loose" and where the Velcro attaches on the back side doesn't give the cleanest look. There also isn't a cutout for my lumbar support button, but not a big deal since my button doesn't seem to work anyways.

For covers, the fit looks phenomenal. If I were to buy covers, these would probably be the ones I would choose.

BTW, I think it may be time to bring the Christmas lights down...

I have the same set on our 4runner. They hold up very well. Very comfortable and wash up easily.

Money well spent.

You can also remove the door arm rests and wash them with warm water and Dawn dish soap with a nylon brush.

Overall I love mine, made a huge difference in the look and feel. I've had the neosupreme version for almost 2 years. The driver side seat bottom is stretching a bit from daily use. They are actually in the washing machine right now because of some stains. Will see if they come out. It would be nice if the seat bottom had a few more attachment bungees

Hell Yea! Paid $750 in 95, had it for 4 years, tranny went, gave it to a friend. My last car before the 4Runner.
Had a '75 with the 500, great motor too.

In 83 I was doing smog checks under the BAR84 program we had here in CA back then. In comes a 73' Coupe with a 500ci motor, but the cool part is it was fuel injected! It was a precursor to the FI they used in the first Seville.

Not related to seat covers but I do have a fix for your "unhinged" console elbow rest/door. I'm just guessing that your hinge is shot.

Cut away what is left of the plastic hinge (1998) and replace it with a little brass door hinge from the hardware store. Use some short sheet metal screws to fasten it to the bottom of the cover and the top of the console. The only trick is to duplicate the pivot point of the original plastic hinge so that the latch will still engage.


Back to the seat cover topic -- anybody know where to buy just bottom covers (cloth) for the driver's and passenger sides for a 1998? I hate to use my old tee-shirt from a Rolling Stones concert as a seat cover (-;

So, the CoverKing and Wet Okole, as far as I know, are the best ‘fitted’ seat covers.

They are made to fit the seat, not like generic ones you get at the auto parts store or Wally World.

They’re really not hard to install at all.

I’m loving my CoverKing ‘Tactical’ seat covers.

A little loose, but they don’t move around like the generics do.
