My Cross Terrains aren't finished yet...

..but I'm thinking about getting new tires before winter hits and I can't find CTs in my size (265/70/16)

The closest offerings from Michelin appear to be:
LTX M/S2
Lattitude Tour
Lattitude Tour HP

I've tried to find reviews on these but I'm not able to decide which one best suits my needs. Crisp on-road handling with proper tracking and minimal noise is what I'm most interested in. I'm willing to sacrifice treadwear if it means better all season traction. Off-road capability is lowest on my list.

Does one of the above tires sound like a clear winner for me? Thanks...

The LTX is a really good tire.

I'd recommend Goodyear Fortera Triple Treds in 265/70/16.

I'm running them on a 1997 4Runner and I've been very satisfied with them.

I'm in the same situation right now. I currently have 68,000 on my OEM CTs (and not even down to the wear marks yet!!!!). Freaking awesome tires!!!! Really great in up to 8-10'' of snow too in my experience.

These tires have absolutely ZERO road noise. Like you, I don't off road, but handling on the highway and in rain and snow are the main considerations for me.

I will probably go with the LTX M/S 2s and based on my CT's performance I have no doubt the LTXs will reach 70,000+ easily.

As a side note, I briefly considered the Cooper Discoverers and the Yokohama Geolanders to save a few hundred bucks, but in all the tire reviews I read, Michelins are always THE tire all others are measured against. The gold standard.

I put 265/70/17 Michelin LTX M/S 2's on my truck a year ago and love them. I don't notice any more road noise than with my CT's and they're great in the snow and rain.

My point of chiming in is what about 265/75/16? They'll fit fine, look great and may be a lot cheaper

Cross Terains have been discontinued (may be able to find leftovers on the shelf) and are replaced by the newly designed LTXs

I was told they were replaced by the Latitude Tour, which is a luxury SUV road touring tire.
I ended up going with Bridgestone Dueler A/T 695s (I wanted REVO2s, but they were ~$20 more a tire) and to my surprise are actually quieter than the CT SUVs. Yes, quieter. I am looking forward to testing them out in the snow. They have a much more aggressive tread pattern than the CTs and I expect them to perform much better. I was never all that thrilled with the snow/ice performance of the CTs.
