My daystar install experience-

I bought my 04 4wd v8 sport(w/XREAS) in December 2009. A few years later I added 265/70-17 BFG at, no lift and only noted rubbing at times when backing up, fully turned wheels. About 1.5 years ago I ordered the daystar 2.5/1.5 kit from wheelers, but never found the time to install. Yesterday I decided to go for it. I was having a hard time deciding if I wanted to level the front, or go for the full lift. Because I got the topout+preload kit I had the option. I installed both and found that it was taller then I wanted, and made my tires look very small(I have had a "stuffed" look for years). I took it apart again, removed the topout(leaving the longer studs in case I ever change my mind), leaving the preload only. This cured the nose dive look, and gave my 4runner a nice level stance.
I have read many threads on installing daystar with XREAS. Here is the procedure I used. Front tires off the ground, jackstands in. Removed wheels, front skidplate, swaybar. I then removed brake, ABS, and XREAS bracket bolts. Removed lower balljoint bolts, upper and lower shock bolts, and loosened lower controll arm (alignment) bolts. Pivoted lower control arm down, then installed coil spring compressor tool while shock was in upright position(a little tight but plenty of space to do it). I then removed top plate, swapped out longer studs, installed spacers and re-installed. I did not remove tie rod, upper ball joint or any other parts. There is a learning curve, and since I did it twice(to remove topout spacer) it took longer then it should. I am quite sure I could do it again in about 2hours or so. Thanks to everyone who has done write-ups, they are very helpful!
