A few thoughts. I had a 1st gen Sequoia and loved it. BE SURE to look for an 05' or newer. You get 40 more HP and a 5spd auto. Fixing your truck is an easy decision compared to a car payment (if that matters). a $1000 repair to buy you several more years is nothing. But its already too small right? Fixing your truck before selling is dependant on what its worth. Can your get $1500 as/is? Or $500? I agree with others that the market for you is cheap!
Your kids for sure are out growing that added 3rd row. And I'm guessing room for "stuff" isn't any better with the added seat. A Sequoia would be great and for about $10k you can find a good one.
Option#1 Why not trade the Odyssey in on a Sequoia? Keep the 4runner and fix it for you? You don't need two vehicles that can haul all the kids. AND you have the first car for your eventually 16 yr old.
Option#2 Sell the 4runner as/is but sell all the extra racks and such. Parting out the truck itself will be a huge PITA. Then get a Sequoia .
Option#3 What about a 5th gen with the 3rd row? Going to be alot more money, but if you are financing anyway....
LC or LX are good options just more money upfront and maintenance costs.
