My distributor is stuck!

I've got an 88 4runner with a 22re. My engine was rebuilt after I threw a bearing. After getting the re-machined crankshaft in with new bearings, loosing half my bolts and struggling for a few weekends, it's finally back together. It runs again.
The timing is off. The issue is the distributor won't turn even with the bolt out and being tapped with a hammer! It won't move at all. Any ideas?

you could try to use a wood block and hammer. place the block on the adjustment tang (where the bolt passes through), and gradually tap the block with the hammer, perhaps gradually increasing the force of the blow as you progress. just don't break/crack the housing/casting.

Thanks. I think I'm going to mix both of you suggestions. I'll pop the valve cover off, rotate the first piston and use a wood block to push it out. I'll let you know how it goes.
