It was a brand new 1970 Datsun 521 Pickup. I bought it for $2050.
It came only one way:
2 wheel drive
1600 4 cylinder engine
4 speed standard transmission
Vinyl bench seat
AM radio with one speaker
Manual crank windows
Manual (key) door locks
Ventilation by a large adjustable vent behind the hood
Most of the cabin was steel inside with vinyl covered cardboard on doors
The floor was covered by a thick vinyl mat - removable
With mat removed two rubber plugs could be removed and washed out
The box, cab, fenders, tailgate were all single walled steel
4 wheel drum brakes-No power assist
Brake shoes could be replaced on all four wheels in about two hours
Valves needed adjusting about every 4000 miles
Spark plugs lasted about 20,000 miles
Points lasted about 20,000 miles
Seat covers fell apart at 30,000 miles - I made my own to replace them
It was noisy
I bumped my head on ceiling a lot - even with seat belt cinched tight
It got 18 mpg on a good day
It had an 8 gallon tank - Cost about $2.50 to fill it
In wet weather you had to carry at least 250 pounds in the bed so that it didn't change ends when stopping abruptly
I drove it for 4 years and about 80,000 miles
