Well one of my Fox 2.0 coilovers is leaking badly and the 2.0 shocks in the rear are toast too. Sooooo I plan to get the coilovers rebuilt but out back , do I rebuild, replace with Fox, or replace with 5100's ? The rig is 99.99999 % on road . The lift stuff was I'm there when I bought it. It's my first lifted vehicle and I love it , but I wanna keep loving it .

Did the previous owner wheel it a lot? I'm surprised that they died so quickly. I've had mine on for almost a year and they still look like brand new.

I don't have anything against Bilsteins at all, but to me the 5100s would be a downgrade. I've owned both (Fox on my 4r and 5100s on my Grand Cherokee) and the difference in ride, longevity and overall build quality is quite noticeable. If it were me, I'd replace the rears with some new 2.0s to match your rebuilt coilovers, or upgrade to a fox shock with a reservoir if you suspect that they may have over heated over high speed bumps.

The previous owner did "wheel" a lot, and I don't know how long they've been on the rig but I've had it 1.5 years

What kind of miles did the fox's get?

im putting bilstein 5160's in back on mine next weekend with ome 2884 coils. i have bilstein 6112 coilovers up front that i put on about a month ago. Theyve been pretty good and i noticed a huge difference from my oem 2007 shock absorbers , but, of course i did. All the research i did on suspension told me there really wasnt much of a difference in all of the smaller monotube shocks. pick whatever you like best or whatever fits your budget.

there is a guy on youtube that owns a racing shop in colorado and he laid out all the different kinds of shock absorbers with them cut open to show you how they are all the same until you get into racing suspension. he was plugging King suspension and you can see the difference he was talking about. he even debunked the shock absorbers from a Ford Raptor showing while they appear large diameter on the outside when you cut them open they are actually double walled normal dampers. He noted that the bilsteins have a floating piston that separates the oil and gas and mentioned they were good quality for the low price.

So you've got 2.0's that have been wheeled hard and have been on for (likely) 2+years?

Yeah, everything should be rebuilt at this point. No issue with going to 5100s, but they are a slight downgrade from your Fox 2.0's. If you're going to do heavier wheeling look at upgrading, otherwise rebuild and just plan on doing so every couple years (depending on mileage).
