I also seem to have to hold the Homelink button in longer to get it to work, but the range is much better than the factory Craftsman remote.
On the back of the garage door opener where all the wire connections are, there is usually a screw labeled 'antenna'. Those experiencing shorter range when using the remote could try adding a wire to this screw, or if there is already a wire there, try repositioning it or extending it.
