Absolutely not true. Unless you're already dual cased and dual locked, the IFS is definitely not your limiting factor.
And judging by the OP's nearly stock vehicle, IFS is going to suit him way better. I wheel with a guy with a SAS'd, dual locked 3rd gen on 35's and theres only been one situation so far where his solid front axle really shone. And even then, it was more just a case of him being able to take a less careful line. The rest of the time, I'm enjoying the smooth IFS ride while he's getting rattled to death by his leaf sprung solid axles.
And +1 for a rear locker. You'll notice a night and day difference in traction and it will help you avoid that excessive wheel spinning
The OP blew is front diff on a what looks like a speed bump.
He said he is looking to build it into a trial rig. I would SAS.
