my ipod iphone setup with US Spec

Nothing new here just wanted to post my ipod and iphone setup through US Spec TOY12. I just upgraded my radio with an 07 JBL in-dash 6 (from an 04 JBL) and I wanted to integrate my Sporster 5 with an aux-line so I figure this was a perfect chance to add the ipod/iphone integration as well.

Basically I have the iphone cord running down into my center console bin/holder (my US Spec is mounted down underneath the console). The cord easily pulls in and out of its housed position pictured here.

Plugs right up to my ipod and I control everything from the steering wheel controls. I've got it splayed out for the picture here but normally I just tuck it away in the center console bin.

Same thing goes for my iphone when I'm out and about. If I need to charge it or want to listen to the music/media I plug it up and tuck it in the bin.

One small difference is I attached an articulating arm to a button cover so when I go on road trips or whatever I'll just pop out the button and put my iphone hold in it's place...

allows me to play my vids/movies/games/etc and listen over the speakers...

It's pretty smooth. Phone calls come in over the speakers and automatically mutes the music. I can hit speaker on the iphone and take calls (phone calls do not broadcast on the speakers).

Like I said, nothing new but maybe seeing these ideas can help others come up with other solutions or other better ideas.

I actually don't use this setup anymore. It worked great for what I was doing but now I'm looking at a different device. Basically the same thing where I can slide it into the docking station and mount it somewhere. The main difference is I can plug in my USLec device to the back-end and it will "pass-thru" to my iPhone. Plus I have a 3GS now so the mount is slightly different anyways. This pic showed my V1 iPhone.

i'm debating getting the PA15-toy from usa spec for my iphone 3g. Do you get a read out on the radio of whats playing?

I plan on using my 3g strictly to just play mp3s in my car. Any thoughts would be much appreciated

I definitely dig it. I have the 12TOY so the 15 might be a bit more advanced. It seems each model advancement improves on the last one. I originally got mine to integrate my Sirius radio with it. Since the USA Spec comes with 2 interfaces I was able to add my iPhone with it as well.

The 12TOY does not read out on my stereo... BUT I have a JBL 6disc so it could be different if using the NAV type system or 15 might have added that advancement. All mine displays is "iPod". One other thing that is "a little" annoying is a prompt that asks if you want to go into Airplane mode. Not a huge issue.

I can scroll through songs on my iPod and play or just use my steering wheel buttons. Also, if you are using only one input (from just the iPhone and not anything else) then you can go into hybrid mode which will let you select scroll between 5 different playlists.

It plays anything that is playing on your iPhone (except for an actual call) so I use it to also play the Emergency Radio App and other stuff like football games to get the full affect on my car speakers.

It was definitely worth it for me... plus it charges my iPhone.

I also have the 10 speaker 6 disc jbl system. Curious to know if i will get a read out on my stereo with the pa15. If not i will have to get a dock/cradle like your picture to be able to view the iphone. Off i go to look for a decent cradle

Check out this cradle from Proclip. This is probably what I'll get next. It should work with the 3G and 3GS. What I like is you can plug the US Spec into the bottom and then when you seat the iphone into the cradle it will plug it in.

That's all in theory though because I haven't used one yet. But it's just about what I'm looking for.

Yeah that is a good feature u can just slide it in and you are done.

for 70 bucks though..a bit pricey.. ill look else where i dont plan on moving the phone much since it is my 2nd line
