Thanks to the inspiration of CopperX, I decided to do an iPod install of my own. I don't bring drinks in the car and since it is a little easier to access as opposed to the storage area just under the arm rest, I decided to turn the driver's side cup holder into an iPod interface. I used matte board to make the cradle for the dock and also the cover. I need to get some c-strip moulding like CopperX used to line the outter edge and maybe put a coat of clear sealant on the cover to make it match the plastics in the center console more.
It is sturdy so I can use the click wheel and the location is good so I can see the screen and reach the controlls.
