My new Runner!

Picked up a new 4Runner last week, got a really good deal on it and I'm so excited to have one again..especially after driving a Cummins with diesel prices at $4.65 a gallon right now!

Its been a while, but I used to be on here a lot with my '99, even got voted as T4R of the Month with it :)

Slapped some new tires on her a few days ago. She doesn't really need much but some minor maintenance and TLC.

Hey that thing is gorgeous and I love the black wheels and white letter tires, looks great!! thanks for sharing the photo!

Thanks!

The tires are Kenda Klever MT 285/75/16. Great tires for half the price of others. I don't know what the rims are, honestly they are just plain black steel I think.

Its from Cali, definitely seeing different weather here in Ohio! No rust, body is in great condition. Can't complain too much!

Exactly, keep it simple.

I think sometimes people go overboard with mods they never use, but think they might someday.

I almost pulled the pin on a lift with mine but then stopped and told myself that I need to bottom this thing out a few times first - or add some weight to it before I change the suspension.

Keep it simple. Have fun. You'll soon find out what you need. It's never bad to invest in recovery gear - and learn how to use it.

Welcome back. I faintly remember your name on here. I think I may have posted once or twice in some threads of yours.

Hope you enjoy this one :)

My old 4Runner had the dreaded pink milkshake, ended up trading it in for a Dodge Cummins.

This 4Runner is just a DD so I don't know what mods to do to it that's best since it already has the lift and I did tires. It does need new seats and a tune up and maybe a buff out but it already has what I would have done to it..lol

I am in Northeast Ohio-Medina area.

LOL , I am in southwestern Ohio, between Dayton and Cincinnati.

It looks like your skid pan is loose?

Not sure but the pic above seems to show the rear left side of your front most skidpan not connected, anyone else see this? or just my bad old eyes?!

As far as what to do to it? Well 1) change fluids - use rotella t6 oil/wix oil filters 2) determine if it has the 'strawberry milkshake' potential - remedy by installing a new tranny oil cooler (bypassing factory one) and closing existing in/out tranny cooler tubes w/a hose (so if it leaks internally it just swings back and forth in tube) 3) other maintenance stuff & 4) upgrade your front rotors to larger type preferrably drilled and/or slotted. These solid machines but like anything else have an issue or two. Nice T4R! Enjoy! :thumb3:

I really wanted to get a 5th gen but we are also wanting to buy a house, so I had to put that on hold for now.

I only paid 3K for this 4Runner so I got a pretty good deal I think. Just hoping it will last me a few years!

Much better investment

in your home than a vehicle. Wise. Despite this, your t4r is capbable of lasting a very long time with some reasonable maintenance. I've heard of many getting 400k before the engine needs to be opened up. Good luck and enjoy your home too!

Hey the 5th-Gen comes with some nice features but there are tradeoffs; my 5th Gen came with a healthy car payment (yikes)... so part of me wishes I had stuck with a 3rd Gen and no car payment ;): like you did, sounds like you got a great deal!
