My new runner

Well, a month ago I bought a good mechanical condition 4runner to play with off road, last week I finally finished with the exterior and interior detailing. 1" body lift has already been done, but I'm going to be installing a 3" toytec this week and going up to a 33" tire. Should I have any issues with rubbing ?

It just started snowing, so I have to say hello to the 4runner and goodbye to this for a few months

Shouldnt have much rub at all if any, maybe at full lock, but you going with the spacers or coilovers??

by the way, that garage is Immaculate.. how the heck do you do that! :thumb3:

I plan on using their (toytec) ultimate lift, coil overs up front and OME springs in the rear.

The garage gets a lot of time spent in there so I try to keep it tidy.

Might i suggest you get 255/85's, they are still 33's but they will perform better offroad and they will give slightly better milage than 285/75 which are a wider tire.

I actually thought about it, but the only tire I can find in that size is a BFG and I haven't had great experiences with them.

Whoaaa what's with all the BFG bashing? They're the only tire I will ever use. I love my BFGs, give them another chance.

Bashing ??? not quite, I just said I had a bad experience with them. They (all terrain T/A's) just don't do well on nearly everything I typically drive on when 4wd is needed. As far as the KM2's go I love the traction, but I can't afford to keep any rubber under my dodge if I'm buying tires every 15-20K

Plus if you look closely you'll see that the rubber on this ride are BFG's

The runner looks almost as good as that garage floor! Did it come with those wheels or did you put those on? I'm not a fan of BFGs myself but know plenty of people who will stick by the A/Ts or M/Ts.

The wheels went on after the 4runner was purchased, I wanted a bit more wheel width and a wider stance without going the spacer route.

DANG, you have a clean garage, with what your doing the only clearance issues would be getting it in that clean garage, LOL :lookout:

One garage for parking, one garage for actually working on the toys. It makes it a lot cleaner during the winter.

As for the clearance, 9 foot door openings rock.

Nice rig! my neighbor has a clean garage like that only because his wifeee kicks him out of the house. and the bike is very nice too we all will be looking forward to your modifications on your rig so keep us posted!

I finally got around to installing the 3" toytec lift and diff drop.

What started with "just" a lift ended up being a little more than "just" a lift, here is the short list of what actually got taken care of at the same time.

I started with the front end of the truck, there I found two loose CV joints and torn boots, a bad front wheel bearing, a leaking front axle seal and metal to metal contact on the right front rotor.

Replaced both wheel bearings/seals, both CV joints, new upper ball joints, new sway bar links, new axle seals, new brake rotors and new pads to match.

The rear end didn't seem to go much better, upon pulling the left wheel I found a large amount of axle fluid in the rear brake drum. This would explain why I had a left to right shift under hard braking, well that and the metal to metal on the right front.

Replaced both rear axle seals, the brake lines that broke while pulling the rear axle, new drums and new shoes.

Once I get a set of real tires on the truck I will get some pictures up.

Sorry about your luck with the brake and axle seal issues. The good news is that those a some of the few common things that go on with our vehicles. You should have a very stout and reliable vehicle that will meet all your Winter driving needs, and whatever else you decide to use it for no matter the season.
