My new T4R and I having a really rough start...

Well I've owned my 4R for a little over a month now and so far I had the antenna mast snap off in the motor, rear coolant line snap($500 repair) and now I was rear ended last night. She was accident free and really clean so I hope everything goes my way and they don't try to screw me over. It just happen last night so it will be a week or so before the adjuster can get out to look at her. What do you guys think is it going to be too costly where the other guys insurance will try and total her out. She is a 2000 Limited with 130k miles and just purchased over a month ago for $7500.

Obviously rear bumper, tail gate and rear fender is now hitting the rear door.

Maybe late 90's early 00' Mercury mountaineer. I was at stop sign of an off ramp and the guy said he seen edge up and took his eyes off me for a second. I asked him "hey how fast do you think you were going? He said I don't know, but I don't think more than 10-15 mph".

I think the quater is the only thing requiring a little body work. They'll just snap off and snap on the rest like legos. Have the body shop credit the replacement taillight and put it towards some LED tails :tongue:

Its hard to say about the damage, at first sight I thought it woudnt be too much, but the picture with the rear door touching the back part like that, Im really not sure.

Thats not totaled. The rest of that door doesnt look messed up.

to bad the tow hitch was not higher. that would have helped. what does the shop say $ and cents wise or did I miss that?

If that rear quarter panel wasn't damaged it definitely would't be totaled, I don't think you will have any problems though...

I went outside today and tried to see if I can find anything else wrong with it. I'm guessing these would be frame rails or the frame itself. Is this nothing to worry about or should I just start trying to find something else because they won't even think twice about trying to fix her?

The frame can be straightened of course but Insurance agencies often total a vehicle based on a bent frame. If that happens just buy it back from the company for $800 and build a sweet trail rig.

Ive been thinking that myself... with the lift I have now, I dont get many cars and normal SUVs riding my butt as much in the snow!

my tow hitch would tear up a normal SUV or car if it rear ended me.

I wish I would taken pics of the last car (honda civic) that rear ended me twice (7 cars, I was in front, no damage to mine really except a small dent in the bumper.. she got hit twice too from behind, knocking her into me twice)

My 97 4Runner was hit in the rear but the impact hit the tow hitch. the frame was ok. my opinion is to have the vehicle put up on the rack and have at least two opinions. Just to be sure.

Well I never really introduced myself here so I figure this is a good opportunity. Once they got it to the body shop they told me it would be put on a frame machine and most of it would pop back. Paint came out great which was what I was really worried about. Overall everything went well except that they have to adjust the rear bumper some and they have to order me a OEM plastic part that sits on top of the rear bumper.

Looks great! too bad Insurance companies wont let you armor up after getting rear ended... in fact, shouldnt armor drop your insurance rates??
