My New (to me) 08 T4R SE

I got my new (to me) 08 T4R SE about two weeks ago now. It had 12K miles and was a Toyota "certified pre-owned". For four years before this I had an 05 Tacoma. I loved the truck, but wanted the increased interior space of the T4R. So far I am loving it and have no regrets about trading in the Taco.

The T4R was stock for about a week, at which time I decided a lift / tires was a must. I ordered the Daystar 2.5 / 1.5 kit from Wheeler's Off Road. My local shop installed it on Monday. Drove it straight from the shop to the tire place and got some new shoes , Toyo MTs (siped) 265/70/R17. Some pics:

Before the lift / tires I measured the front and rear fenders at mid-tire. Before was: 32.75" front, 36" rear. After was: 37" front, 39" rear. I really think that the lift and tires made a world of difference, not only in looks but in much needed ground clearance. Saturday I'll be taking the runner out for some mild wheelin', pics will be forthcoming.

I'd suggest de-badging the runner. I think it looks a lot cleaner... just my opinion. either way, nice ride!

Looks great man! I love the tires, I have them too. I would never consider getting any other mud tire. I think you and I are the only ones running them on this forum, which is pretty sad considering how amazing they are for on and offroad use.

Your runner looks awesome. But then again so does your old Taco. Why didn't you just swap the tires/wheels from one to the other? Also, was that a custom front bumper on the taco?

The tires on the Taco were Goodyear MTRs which were getting towards the tail end of their service life. They probably had 20-30% tread left, and I wanted new ones. The front bumper on the Taco was from AllPro Offroad. It was very stout and served me well.

Road noise is noticeably less than the MTRs that I had on the Taco. I am really digging these tires so far. I was a little concerned about the ride quality as they are a E load / 10 ply / 3 ply sidewall tire. That concern proved to be unfounded. They ride great.

Got out yesterday and got the 'runner off road a little more. Nothing too extreme, just some mild trail running. Here's a few pics from one section :

I may have to look into getting some real sliders soon. The factory step bars don't look like they'd take much (any?) abuse. Got pretty close to being on them a few times.
