My poor 4Runner...

Well, on Friday my fiance and I got into a pretty bad shouting match. She decided she was going to go for a walk to cool down. I followed her out because I just had this bad feeling in my stomach that she was going to do something stupid. I watched her as she walked past the Runner then stop. She turned around, said "you love this thing more then me don't you?" and thrashed her claws down the rear passenger door . When I went and looked at it there are 4 scratches. 3 are a little over a foot long and one is about 2 1/2 feet long. My Runner is black and these scratches are white. Do you guys think these could be buffed out or are they beyond that? I imagine since they're white they are through the clearcoat. Usually if it's just a clearcoat scratch it's a more grayish color and I know that can buff out. These are all definately white in color :bash:. What do you guys think? Last question:

Why are women nuts and jealous of inanimate objects? I was kinda hoping as she was scratching the poor thing it would have a Kurby the love bug moment and the door would fling her across the yard. But it didn't...

Can YOU feel them with your finger nail? If you can, then they are to deep to totally buff out. You may be able lesson their appearance. If you can not feel them, you may be able to get them out or close to it with the right product and machine. Hard to tell without seeing a picture

I'll snap a picture of them in the morning when I get off work. I just ran outside and lightly ran my finger nail over them and I can feel them. My nail doesn't catch and stop but I can slightly feel them when I do that. I get off at 0700 (2 1/2 hrs) so I'll clean the spot up and snap a pic.

Batteries are dead in the camera . I got some work to do around the house but I'll get a pic up a little later. Not like the scratches are going anywhere :(.

I mean, you may have been wishing for the curby the bug incident, but i was thinking more about christine. Ya know the part when the guy is in the engine bay, and the hood comes down on his hand. Now that is love.

Not to pry, but how did she find out that you loved the rig more than her? You should have told her that it isn't that you love the car more than her, it is just a different kind of love.

LOL. Sorry to hear about that in all honesty. To be honest, man you must have efed up bad

Good luck brudda

I feel you pain man. I had my ex key the hell out of my 04 Acura TL about 2 months ago. That's how I ended up with my 05 4Runner.

Nothing makes my blood boil more than hearing about behavior like this.

In an ideal world, you would then take her by the back off the neck and rub her nose in the area that she "Graced" and then (if she does not have expendable income to fix what she caused) then you march her straight over to 15th & M (or nearest corner) and have her come up with a couple dollars.

My EX WIFE... the door slammer she was... would get mad, walk outside, and open and slam the door like 10 times and this is how she would vent her frustration OR get back at me.

Look, I'm expected to take medication to correct my behavior and assit me in maintaining a sociallably exceptable behavior and I have a ZERO TOLERANCE for mindless acts of ignorance, that is unless she puts out like an automatic ice maker, then... you might want to continue to allow her to treat your rig like a rented mule.

I have a spot of small scratches from removing bird crap. It was very abrasive and I scratched the paint (not the typical etching).

I'm going to try Meguiar's ScratchX. Here is a good how to.

Eloquently stated. My ex slammed doors too.

The main varaiable on all these replies is the word 'Ex'.
She is still your fiancee, nothing final. Believe me, the tantrums don't get better once you are officially married. Stay engaged to her for awhile and make sure you aren't marrying dynamite.

Just my $.02.

As for the paint, I have touch up pimples all over my rig and haven't found a method yet that is not visible.

You guys are more accepting than I am. If a woman I was dating/engaged to ever pulled behavior like that, I would end the relationship immediately. That's not a quality I look for in a woman.

Just be glad she didn't use her engagement ring on your paintwork... I have to admit that my mind would be thinking things like .. next time it might be me not the 4Runner and she might not use just her nails....

I am sorry to hear about what happened to your truck. If I was in your situation, I would think twice about continuing your relationship with this person because if she did that before you are even married, what else will happen? Getting back to talking about your truck, I have had good success using a product called GS-27. You will sometimes see commcercials for this on TV and it really does a good job. I usually use turtle wax scratch remover in addition to the GS-27. The only thing is, if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, none of these products will work. There is a scrach on my silver 4Runner that I could feel with my fingernail and I was only able to make it a little lighter. I can still see it though. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!

Does she have her nails done, the white might be the nail polish off her nails on the paint, get some scratch remover in autozone, any clearcoat safe liquid polish type that removes light scratches, I doubt her nails went through the paint, what your feeling is her nail polish paint on your paint;):

and then next call 911:D drop the bish like a bad habit

advice from the front lines

I've been happily married for 27years:eek:

My 02 is get another fiance. Behavior like this isn't normal and not worth it.
That was so easy to say :D

I don't think Dr.Phil would be to impressed to hear that 2 people in a relationship get into a fight and the woman is destroying the guys truck.

Pull the ignition fuse on her car and then see how she feels when her car is going nowhere;):

If it was just her nails it should come straight out with some polish. If her nails can cut through the paint just like that, you should rent her out for cage fights and become her manager. Then you can buy a new 4Runner every month ;):

Most people are trainable. Just sit her down and say behaviour like that is not on, and if she does it again you will kick her out. It is similar to you tearing up her favorite dress or pair of shoes.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I tried taking 4 different pictures some with flash and some without and the scratches barely showed in any of the pics. The paint is so shiny all you can see are reflections :D. She was very, VERY apologetic about damaging the truck. She said she had no idea her fingernails could damage paint that easily :rolleye2:. She also said that she will pay to get it fixed wherever I choose because she realizes that it was a very childish and all out stupid move. Before I take it for an estimate I think I might try that GS-27 stuff and maybe some of that colored turtlewax? Thanks again for all the replies though. You guys know how to make a guy feel better. This place definately is like a family away from your family :).
