My rear bumper complication...

Hey guys,

so as most of you know about 4 months ago close to 5, I purchase a rear bumper off of Perkins Performance. It was the best priced bumper at the time for me. I heard good things about there work, So When i ordered it they guy said they where about 3-4 weeks out. Didn't bother me at all, I expected it to take some time to build it.

So a month went by then two then four. I called several times just to check in see how the build was going. Of course im a little excited who wouldn't be? Every time told me the same thing, basically what i wanted to hear. "were finishing it up, sending it to powder coating" Im starting to get a little annoyed and frustrated at this point. But held my cool, So I waited. Right now, its sitting in the Fastnel Shop in Washington state waiting to be shipped out. Its been there for about a week and a half. Just because Fastnel cant charge Perkins Performance for the shipping like they normally would, because they have been so late with previous payments... So i call Perkins Performance (which who sucks at picking up their phone) I would call 9-10 times in a day(because im frustrated) before a get him to pick it up. (if he does) I leave several messages and never once get a call back. Never responded to my emails neither... Yes he could be annoyed with me but, come on. Im just trying to get some answers. He has a very large chunk of my Cash, I feel thats its only fair to be treated like a costumer even after i hand him money.

So moral of the story and my ranting i just want you guys who are interested in Perkins Products to look around a bit and maybe go with a more reliable company. Just wanted to give feedback, i dont want someone to get in the similar scenario. Even if it is a few more bucks.

I now just hope it fits on the truck.....

Thanks Guys!

Sorry to hear about your complications. I've learned that when dealing with these small shops, sometimes lead times won't be what was originally indicated. My Perkins roof rack took about 5 months which was longer then expected but I prepared myself for that so it didn't bother me. When it arrived, the fit, quality and workmanship was so nice I didn't mind the delay. When I ordered the front bumper from Schrockworks it actually arrived sooner then I expected but I know others have waited 9 months to a year for their bumper. CBI has always been in a class by themselves. Excellent service and communications and delivery on time as promised.

Not making any excuses for vendors. Lead time and actual delivery date should always be as promised. But when dealing with small shops it seems its always hit and miss.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be happy with the product once you get it.

that is not acceptable, i would call your credit card company file a claim, and tell perkins to take their $hit back and learn how to do business.

Sounds like the stories I've heard about TAG bumpers, and why I've been hesitant to order from them. Too often you get a shop where the craftsman is the owner, and his whole focus is on the "product", with little idea how to run a "business". Companies like this need good business partners who will kick them in the tail every now and then, for the good of their future business. I think I may go with a local shop for my rear bumper (with swingaway spare, etc.)--the guy makes awesome full-size bumpers for the local rancher crowd.
