My Satoshi Grille Mod.

This is what I did. Not thrilled that the double sided tape is visible, but at 10 feet away you can't see it.

looks great, but I don't like how the fogs are in the way of the toyota badge. you should put those fogs behind the grille

I wish someone would sell these! It looks great, but from what I have seen they are a bit time confusing and require using fiberglass and what not. I am a student and on top of hunting and working I just don't have time for something like this to keep my car down. Changing wheels alone puts a hamper on my time. If anyone knows a good write-up, or if the author has a good write-up, that can be done quickly 3-4 hours let me know!! I love the Satoshi grill but time is against me!

Check out my build thread. I did mine in 4-5 hours. It was very simple. Used no fiberglass or bondo.

Edit: I just realized you have an 05. I have the newer grille, so with that it was very simple.

3-4 hours probably isn't gonna work with the '03-05 grille. But the good thing is you can find an '03-05 grille on ebay for like $30 then you don't have to worry about your 4runner being down.

I did this writeup when I did my second satoshi. FYI the grilles used in the thread were both cheap eBay used grilles, and I managed to find both already in the correct color (white). The '03-05 was $25 shipped, the '06-09 was $60 shipped.

Yeah that's what I had read to, the later model 4th gens were easier to do the Satoshi with. But I will for sure do some more research and test it out.

Thanks Gaterose, I think I did read your write up and just got overwhelmed with what looked to be a lot of work. I am looking for second grill on eBay as we speak so maybe that will spark my enthusiasm to get a head start on it. And are you saying I can do this piece by piece, not all in one day, correct?

It's not actually tape. The Toyota emblem came as one piece. I got it off an old FJ40. I think I'm going to leave it as is for now.

Do you happen to know what year FJ you got your emblem from? They seem to have changed over the years and I like the look of yours...

Thanks.
