My T4R is 3 weeks old, and already has 2700 miles.

I bought my 2015 TEP exactly 3 weeks ago, and just passed 2700 miles. Still no license plates (not from the dealer, nor the personalized plates I ordered).

First weekend was a trip to Yosemite for a Half Dome hike, and last weekend I went up with some friends to Big Pine Lakes in the Eastern Sierras.

My last vehicle was a Chevy Blazer which I bought new in 2000. It was fully loaded, but almost exclusively kept in the city.

This is my first Toyota and first T4R, and my initial impressions are: This is an awesome SUV. After searching for so long and understanding first hand how quick these things go when on sale and how well the resale value is, I very much appreciate the economical side. Gas mileage is consistent at 19mpg with almost constant AC running.

I do have a small nagging thing in my mind about how some of the features available in the Limited are not available in other models. Particularly ventilated seats, climate control, smart key. Even with the AC on, my back gets a bit sweaty from the seats. I also am very much appreciating the other vehicles that have projector headlights that turn to see around the bend in the road. When driving down a dark bendy highway, I wish I had this feature (even though I have 55W HID lights for low beams).

On another note, driving around so much, I usually cruise close to 80mph, and when I slow down to maybe 20-40mph, I notice how loud I had the radio because of the road noise. I'm considering putting Dynamat to reduce the road noise, but is it worth it? Have any of you done it?

I really want to change out the head unit to one of those Android head units, but still have more research to do. Overall, I'm very happy with it, and I know I have many, many, many more adventurous miles ahead!

Optimal running temperature for a vehicle engine only begins after 30 minutes of driving. Just be mindful of that. Things like quick trips to gas stations and corner stores (10 minute drives) are very hard on engine internals because the engine never get fully lubricated or heated properly.

Wow, and I thought I was racking them up on mine being 17 months old and 33,000 miles, working from home as well. I like my Trail so much that I may end up keeping this one long enough to crack 100K, which would be a first!

That surely must be 30 minutes, at idle. My engine is at standard running temperature far before 30 minutes.

I understand that a minute or so drive, or like moving the car from the driveway to the street, is likely to be minutely harder on a motor, but anything past a few minutes should be a walk in the park.

I doubt most people even drive for more than 30 minutes, in the majority of their driving.

Good to hear you like the truck. I would like to know the answer to this as well, and after having taken the door panels off multiple times, there's really no reason I shouldn't have done it already. I've never installed a product like Dynamat in any of my previous vehicles, but since I upgraded the sound system it's something I've been wondering about.

Not sure how to copy the post in this app, but go to the "what did you do in your 5th gen today" thread. On page 555 look at [MENTION=117778]lowcel[/MENTION] post. I believe that's dynamat in the doors. Also, I can see around corners really well with my HIDs. I have HID projectors though. If you used your stock projectors, this might be why you can't. They don't focus the light as well as far as I know. Glad you're enjoying the truck.

Two months old this past Monday, 2300 miles, not my daily driver, but we like taking it in weekend trips.

My longest was 300 miles round trip. I picked it up on a Thursday, had 750 miles by Monday. Can't tell you where we went, but we went somewhere.

My only complaints are, the interior lights stink, LEDs are in the near future. The second is the AC comes on at the MAX, recirculate setting.

Other than that, I am good.

For you? Every 5K I get one till 25K miles. I even get a little card in the mail telling me to come get an oil change.


On a side note I used to be stationed near Philly and I lived in Bristol for about a year. Miss that little place.

Toyota Care? The 5,000 mile service is a tire rotation, multi point inspection and fluid check. Oil change isn't until 10,000.

Where were you stationed? I live really close to Willow Grove Naval Air Station. They actually shut down the airport there a few years ago but still run some operations out of there.

5 weeks old and 1800 miles. I'd have a lot more on it if i didn't have to work and this is a third car for us lol. I always look for a reason to drive it. Picked it up in L.A. And drove it home to the Bay Area in one day.
