My TE plans. Lift, Tires, etc.

Hey everyone, Here is what I am planning for my lift setup and etc.
Let me know your thoughts, opinions, etc.

Front:
Icon Remote Reservoir Coil-overs set to approx. 2-2.5" lift

Rear:
Icon Remote Reservoir Shocks
Icon 2" Lift Coil Springs

Tires:
265/70R17 BFG Mud Terrain KM2

Wheels:
Stock w/ Spidertrax 1.25" Wheel Spacers

What do you all think? I had 285/70R17's on my Tacoma and had to trim plastics and do the body mount mod and all that, I want to avoid all that with the 4Runner. I also want to keep the decent mileage that stock size tires provide but want the bite that the KM2's provide while offroad.

With the wheel spacers and stock size tires, would I incur any rubbing while turning or when the tires stuff into the fenders?

Lift setup sounds good. I would say go bigger on the tire size. I had a Tacoma too, just like yours actually, except mine was an access cab. I first had 265's, then after the lift I hated the way it looked. when i lifted my 4runner, and still had 265's on it, I hated that too. If i were you I'd take that tire/wheel setup from the taco and throw it right on the 4runner. you won't have to buy new tires, or use spacers (assuming those rims have a good BS, which I assume they do). I have a 3" lift, but all i did was remove the mud flaps on the front. I touch a little inner fender at full lock only sometimes, and eventually i'll trim a bit off.

yeah, up the tire size. it will look odd with that amount of lift and stock tires.

I also think you would probably want bigger tires. I have 265s with a 3" lift and stock rims on my trail. Here is a pic of that setup on my TE.

Everything sounds good except for tires. Definitely step up to a 285 or larger. Try to run at least 3" of lift.

You should also see if you can fit 35's with just 3".

^ With 35's I probably wouldn't be able to turn the wheels all the way and would not have much suspension travel, but it would Look Freakin Awesome!!!

I would put the Tacoma Tires and wheels on the 4Runner after the lift, but I'm currently trying to sell the truck, and I don't have the stock ones to put back on, and I don't really want to get rid of the TE Wheels.

Does anyone on here have 285/70R17 on the TE Wheels? I know on the Tacoma The tires would just rub the frame at full lock, so I'm guessing I would probably need the wheel spacers if I went that route on the 4Runner?

I don't think anyone has 285s on stock TE wheels yet, but that being said I WILL have 285s on stock TE wheels this weekend so I will update with pics as soon as the damn tires get off the truck.

you dont have the stock TRD sport wheels you had? I guess you sold them? because you can put the stock 4Runner tires on the Tacoma. And I'm sure you can find some new Tacoma owner getting rid off their stock wheels. If you have to decide between stock wheels and spacers, or new wheels and no spacers, definitely go with new wheels.

edit: dude you're in socal! there are a million modded Tacoma's out there. you could find replacement stock wheels in a heartbeat!

^^ I already found some people that have stock wheels, stock suspension, and etc. Basically since I listed the truck with everything on it and I have 2 guys interested in it right now, It will go as is. If these two guys fall through on wanting to buy the Tacoma, I'll be buying all stock parts, rims, tires, suspension, etc. and then probably use the wheels and tires on the 4Runner and sell everything else and sell the truck in stock form to the local Toyota dealer or something.

I saved all my stock parts when i lifted my Tacoma. When it was time to sell i turned around and sold everything on tacomaworld. ended up with like $800.00 from misc. parts that i had bought a few years ago, and the stuff I didnt sell went on the 4Runner (UCA's, tires, rims). That money went right to the 4Runner lift, and now I have all the 4Runner stock parts in the garage for the same reason. Here was my Taco (very similar to yours)
