My torque wrwnch detected my error being made on the Eng oil drain plug. I pull the plug (looking initially), moved back for the drain and wiped clean. I replaced the plug with a new gasket and ratchet tightened to my sealing feel. Then I checked for 25 Ft Lbs with my torque wrench. The torque wrench and my feel are usually close but when I saw I was over ¼ turn off I knew something was wrong. I pulled the plug to find the old seal (both blue etc on aluminum looking sandwich). Without the Old seal, my tightening to feel and checking was in specs. Plus, I check my snapping (micro torque wrench with my pointing to scale t/w.
The truck should be happy for 6 mo due to my Ext Warr oil change at 5,000 or 6 mo. I will change at 3,000 mi or yearly after the warr vs the approx 2,000 I have averaged or less. Even at 6 mo you can see it is not a total waste (Castrol 5-30 Synthetic Blend) on the 07, SR5, V6, 2WD and 52,000 mi, (purchased at 43,000 mi, 9,000 mi in 2 yrs this month).
