Since the So Cal meet didn't go through today, I went to play in the dirt around a huge new housing development in my town. Came upon a parking lot full of caterpillar machinery...was giggling like a little kid. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to take some pics.

My wife obliging my antics. Gives you a sense of how big these suckers are. Check out the rims... R49's!!!

Wow, the 4Runner looks like a mini cooper compared to those dump truck. You are going to have to do some serious lifting if you want to catch up to one of those! I wonder if Revos come in that size as well??

PS: I am very impressed that your wife would take a picture next to thsoe dump trucks. Most women think we are nuts when we get all happy about our trucks! :lmao:

yeah, those look like street legal type dumptrucks, so as far as short trips, i believe they just drive down the road. if they have to be shipped, im believe that they might take them apart and ship the parts seperatly...

now i know this might seem like a hijacking occuring, but i figured this was the only thread i would ever be able to post this picture in, so sorry for the minihijack, but you will love the picture!

a front end loader wound up getting the offroad dumptruck out and me out, i couldnt winch forward because i wasj ust going down, so had to get pulled backward, nasty stuff

Persistance! Trust me...it was not easy and I've had to ask her many times. Just caught her on a good day. This site was like 4 miles from my home. Hopefully I can eventually warm her up to longer more engaging trips.


RunnerUp...no hijacking at all. Love to see peoples experiences....great picture and looks like there's a good story to tell. Can I safely assume you were stuck?

That was really nice of him. I'm guessing that was at a construction site? Did they give you a hard time about being there?

Looks like you posted right as I was.

I can see your footprints all around your truck. How long were you trying on your own to get out? And did the dumptruck get stuck before or after you?


Like I said, this was a huge new housing development. They had all their heavy equipment stored (saturday) on a high plateau that could only be accessed by a steep ramp. Didn't even know it was there until we got to the top of it. Was just looking for a nice steep climb to try out.

wow that is a pretty good size job!!! i always love finding cool stuff out in the middle of nowhere! oh yeah i was stuck, and my friends heep cherokee tried to get me out, but all it did was pull me down, after that we drove the heep back to the front, got the dumptruck and on the way in to position it in hopes of pulling it forward still, we got it stuck, and i mean, really stuck... so now the jeep was at the front and we had two stuck vehicles in the back, so oncome the 30 minute walk (into the dark) to get a loader, when we got back, we pulled my truck to a safe distance, and i got in the dump truck and my friend got in the loader and he pushed me backwards far enough to whip that machine around wide enough to actually get traction somewhere and get out, it was about a 2 hour job

and no, it was a site that belonged to one of my friends, so we had the keys and permission to be out there on a saturday while no one was working

I gotcha! That's cool he let you play around there. A lot of times when I pass large construction sites on the weekends there's always the urge to go drive through it a bit. Most site's are private property though so it's not a very smart idea.

oh yeah, mostly a bad idea. even if you have permission, neighbors (in populated areas) will call the cops if they see you out there, i have been tempted to get a flashing amber light and drive through like a foreman sometimes,but i would never try that.....
