My truck needs weight watchers

Seriously... To you guys with armor, sliders, front and/ or rear bumpers, roof racks, winch.. How do you do it? I'm guessing with everything listed above that's 800-1000lbs added to the weight of your rig. That's a lot of damn weight!

Isn't your on road performance completely gone to crap? Braking, acceleration.... Handing?

I have a V8 and just with the addition of skids (275lbs) my eyeballs are falling out of my head over how much slower and heavier my rig feels.

Just curious what it's like with all that stuff bolted on.

I went down the path of building without paying attention to weight, on a Jeep Rubicon. Steel bumpers, sliders, skid plates, tire carrier, misc interior stuff. It definitely had an effect on performance.

Went with aluminum bumpers, synthetic line winch, no rear tire carrier, stock skid plates, on the 4Runner. Only unavoidably heavy add on was the sliders, which have to be steel IMHO. Total weight added over stock (net - the stock parts do weigh something, just not a lot) was probably around 250#. Not a big difference vs. stock performance.

I say the same thing when I see a guy at the range or a match with a 12# AR-15/M4-gery... When I pick up my sub 6# SBR, I still feel the need to shed some weight.
