MY Trucks Vibrating and deep sound when I go over 50mph

hello all
my first post...
well my 4 runner is creating a great deep base sound and is vibrating/shaking the whole entire truck. when I go over 50 mph and I thought it might of been the wheel balance cus it looked like I lost the weight on the front left wheel but got my wheels balance today and still the same.
its wierd cus when I led off the gas going 70mph it stops and when I throw it into neutral it start vibrating again.
does anyone know what this might be???

took the truck to the mechanic today and they found that the drive shaft joints had cracks in them. so got both replaced for 145.00
do you think thats a good price?
I havent picked up my truck yet but will keep all informed to see it that does the trick.

YUP that was the trick
I picked it up went 70 and smooth as a baby's butt.

Than it sounds like $145 was a good deal, if for no other reason than peace of mind.

yeah last thing I need is being on the turnpike doing 80mph and the drive shaft cracking off on one side and bouncing back up right though the truck.

Rattling Sound Over 50mph

Mine is making similar noises over 50mph, although not as severe. I just got back from the mechanics today, and he said that it's nothing serious they can pinpoint. The engine and transmission looks good, everything is tight.

The noise is a brief rattling noise, not too loud, but loud enough to notice. It mostly occurs when I'm on the expressway going over 55mph.

It sounds like when your driving a manual transmission and you've let the speed get too low without downshifting, and now you're stepping on the accelerator to get up to speed with the gear instead of downshifting. They sound similar but not quite as loud as the shifting problem.

Anyone ever have that problem?

My mechanic suggested we just let it go until it becomes more noticeable because it doesn't really happen in low speeds, which is how I'm mostly driving in the town roads of Massachusetts.

He believes it's probably with the exhaust system. I hate when you don't know what's wrong with something.

My 4Runner now has 146K and going. After leaving the garage, I went online to find 4Runner groups, and I'm glad I found this one.
