Mysterious cord, grommet/hole under passenger seat

Hey everybody,

Been having water collecting under the passenger seat since I've owned the 4Runner. Only happens when driving in rain. Just noticed this grommet/hole under the passenger seat. The cord was tucked into the frame rail and never noticed it when checking things. The grommet doesn't look cracked but this has to be where it's coming from after checking everything off the list. I plan on replacing it or capping it based on the answers here.

So what is this plug/cord coming out from the underside of the passenger seat that has been taped over and unplugged? I'm stumped

Might have been to the courtesy lights on the running boards if you have a Limited 4Runner.

passenger only? Maybe the A/C drain is blocked and ditching water into the cab instead of out the drain tube.

Also could be the drain from the sun/moon roof. I believe it runs down the A-pillar, and if it get plugged or disconnected, you will get water on the passenger side floor.

Pretty sure thats the wiring that plugs into the sidesteps. Sends power to the lights at each end of the step when you unlock it.

more likely blocked A/C drain or sunroof drain as mentioned before. Lots of threads about both around here. I had similar issue when my A/C drain tube was blocked.

I just went out and checked my 07' Limited. It's the wiring harness for the courtesy lights on each end of the running boards.

Thanks for the help guys! It's a limited and probably the sidestep lights wiring.

As for the water in the cab. I looked into the drain line and appears fine when I ran the ac and I do not have a sunroof. I also have maybe run the ac twice ever in Colorado... But I just moved to Washington and the rain is going to become a much bigger issue. Also checked my door deals with a pressure washer.

But the water has completely discolored the tan carpet rust colored brown directly under the seat, to the edge of the door, then stops before entering the foot area forward and behind. Must be some ridges in the floor pan. I'll take some pictures when I get home from work tonight to give a better idea.
