Mystery Headlamp issue

Last week my headlamps quit working when turned the lights on. Tail lights, reverse lights, license plate lights and front turn signals will work. When engaged in the on position I can pull back on the light lever to engage the high beams and they will turn on. However if I push forward the lever to lock the high beams on the head lamps will not work.

Today I replaced the headlamps and side lamps. When I did this I noticed that the front left side lamp will not work, it did not function before the headlamps stopped working, even with a new bulb they would not turn on.

Im not sure what the next thing to check is? Any help would be appreciated.

I just read a thread that suggested a combination switch may be to blame for headlamp problems. Could this be the source of my head ache?

If the high beams work, that rules out the fuses and headlight relay.
That leaves the combo switch, a common failure point.
Here's some info on repairing it.
