It's kind of embarrassing how little I document on my first vehicle, as you have already surpassed me with your 2nd 4runner haha. But thought I would give you a heads up that I named dropped you as another member is moving up to the Omaha area so I told him to reach out to you with any local questions/knowledge hope you don't mind. Maybe this weekend I will actually update my thread.

Speaking of updates, any new pictures or are you waiting for the big snow storm tomorrow to post them?

I'm the same! I post less of it and take less pictures. Though, I am hoping for some good snow so I can play and get some more pics, but this winter has been so mild.

Well ideally I'd like to find a complete grill and build it the way I have planned... I have some of the parts on their way. If all works out, that's what I'll do and then sell the one you see in the photo.

Hi James!
Yeah, that's after the 3" toytec lift. I used the same lift on my white 4Runner.
This one: 3" Lift W/ Bilstein 5100 Front Coilovers
When I installed it on the white one, the ride was not too much different. It wasn't until I added the larger tires that made it more 'truck like'. Wasn't bad, but certainly wasn't Cadillac smooth.
When I did my black one, I did the lift and tires all at the same time. These tires are much more aggressive and a tad bigger than the last so the ride is even more rough and the tires more more loud....I like that though.
I've not had any issues with Bilstein's and would purchase again, but I've seen quite a few members, lately, that have had issues and are mentioning that the quality isn't the same.

I know you mentioned in PM that you're interested in getting the aftermarket bumpers. I personally wouldn't go with this one if I planned to do that. I think it'd pull it down too much. I don't think I've seen anyone on here do the lift I did and put the aftermarket bumpers on. Maybe the Ultimate at least.
I did put new UCA's on the white one - and still need to do the black one too. Specs were pretty darn close though, that's why I'm not moving too quickly with the black one.

I run the Toytec Ultimate lift with adjustable coilovers in the front(although I haven't adjusted them since i installed them on day one). A little over 60k miles on them now and starting to develop a slight click in the drivers front which I still need to investigate. If I was to do it again I think I would have just gone with OME. Way cheaper, tried and true tested in the Outback. While the Toytec fronts have been fine the rear billies 5100 blew out for no reason after about 15-20k miles. Since switched to Icon 2.0s. As I am starting to get to what I think is the end of life on my suspension I have been debating between buying new coil overs that are rebuildable or just like the toytec set it and forget for several years. I should mention with my lift and my 180# Shrockworks my 4runner does sit level. hope that helps and if you have any questions just let me know.

Thank you! Your time will come! It took me several years to build up as well. Eventually I'll be an old granny and still modding this truck lol

Thank you for the detailed answer! I think that I will also put on a new set of tires on when I install my lift kit too. At the moment I am considering getting the OME 886/896 setup or going with the ones you have on your 4Runners. I definitely plan on getting an aftermarket bumper down the road but due to how expensive it can be I may end up going with your setup! I won't be doing any hardcore off roading anytime soon but just some basic mountain trails up here in Canada, do you recommend these for daily city driving and as well as the occasional weekend out in the mountains?

Hey! Thanks for the heads up.
So from what I am reading around the forum it seems that maybe the OME suspension will be a better fit in the long run (more reliable)? The only concern I have is that it seems like I will have to get the suspension+tires+front bumper at the same time from what I have gathered online. Everyone kept saying that the OME 886/896s will be an awful ride without the added weights from the bumper. What is your suggestion? Should I wait to get them all installed at once? Also if I was to go with the OME setup, is there anything else that I will need to add to the setup ? UCAs I believe were recommended but anything else on top of that? Thank you for your time!

Mine is 90% daily driver. It's just fine as long as you don't mind the gas guzzling.

I can't really comment on this, since I don't have this set up. As mentioned before, I did need UCAs, so I'd assume you would need at least that.
Also, depending on the size of tire you get, there may be some chopping involved.

I don't have any first hand experience with other C/O brands but I've been completely happy with my Icon remote reservoir extended travel C/O's and UCA's. The Shrockworks front bumper and Warn winch tacked on about 255 pounds to the front end. The front dropped about 3/4" so I had to add some more preload to the springs (very easy to do on-vehicle). I'm currently around 3.5" over stock in the front.

The CBI rear bumper is around 185 empty. With the spare tire (96), Hi-Lift jack(32), two full gas cans(74) and fully loaded for camping, it was too much for the Icon springs. I ended up going with custom progressive rate springs from Coil Spring Specialties. Great ride both fully loaded and empty.

The Icons have treated me very well over the last 8 years and many off road trips. They perform great both on road and off road with zero issues so I highly recommend them. I have friends that I wheel with that have had good results with Fox, King and Radflo.

My personal opinion? I wouldn't run anything less than a 2.5" shock body with 700# coils with a winch bumper. Remote resi's even better.

Like I tell everyone when it comes to modding vehicles. Save longer, spend more, buy what you want, do it right, do it once. Or be prepared to do it again. I've never known anybody to regret buying the "best", but plenty that wished they did it right the first time.

Obviously everyone needs to tailor their builds to suit their personal budgets. But don't be afraid to be a little patient and splurge on something you really want. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Thank you guys for the very informative answers, I really appreciate it. I decided to hold off on the modding for now and save up a little longer to get the upgrades I really wanted. Looks like I will be going with a OME 886/896 setup with an aftermarket bumper from CBI or Demello. I will take the time to post some photos once I begin my process of modding my 4Runner. Thanks again you guys, can't wait to start on my journey!
