Says that average temps for March are 60. I can do 60 considering that Omaha's average is 35.

60 is a very wet bone chilling cold. I live here and freeze in SF. Love the city but its so cold!

too short- did you get your new ones yet? glad you able to give them a new home. too bad there's not a good wheelin place close by. we could all have a "go beat on the runners" day. Timber Ridge does open up once or twice a year. I've met the folks that put that on. sounds fun -

AVS Bugflector II is now on. Honestly, I think it's something you really have to get used to. Right now I don't care to much for it. It sticks out a lot further then I thought it would.

Mytoy4, when installing the bug deflector, how did you install the lip of the deflector that connect under the top of the grill? Mine only came with two holes, one on each end but I am not able to put on the grill with the deflector because there is no room for the deflector lip to hook on. It says no drill required but there are no holes on the center of the lips to connect the grill to.

I didn't have to drill mine. It actually slips under the back of the top part of the grille and then that molding runs along the top of the grill still. Then I bolted it on both outer sides.

Here's a picture closer up. You can see where it's tucked behind the top part of the grille.
Here's what it looks like when the grille was actually removed.
I had that exact same deflector (Weathertech). I liked it but eventually got tired of the looks/vibrating side mirrors (due to re-routed wind) and decided to take mine off...only to find that it had rubbed several areas of paint off. A few spots were bad and down to the metal.
How long have you had yours and did you notice anything like that?

Mine is an AVS Bugflector II. I don't have issues with vibrating mirrors. I've had mine on for a couple years but actually wouldn't recommend it to anyone, because of the same issue you had. I took mine off last fall and found the very same thing. I was pissed. I put it back on for the time being, until I can get my hood repainted.

Oh ok, well they look the same anyway. I just touched mine up with some paint and threw the grill back on too. I figure I may get it fixed in the future, but its not worth that much too me now.
Unfortunately, I think this type of rubbing/damage is inherent with the way these deflectors are designed. There's just no way they can flex in the wind when driving at interstate/hwy speeds without rubbing the paint off the hood. However, I actually used some of those round, rubber "pads" that go on the bottom of chairs/tables and it seemed to alleviate the problem.

It's funny you say that because I originally bought mine because I drove so many highway miles and the chips to my grille were unreal. I hoped it would help. Had I would have known it was going to make things worse I would have never put it on.

But the cool thing is, that you can take the fat insurance check, get your hubby to fix it, and use that money to buy more mods!! Yay!

hate to hear that happened for sure it sucks to watch a hail storm not being able to get your car out of the storm.
