Thanks, Austin :) It's been something I've been thinking about for a while now. My priorities just don't allow me to use it for what I'd hoped and though I'll miss it a ton, it's best it goes to someone who may be able to enjoy it off road. (sounds like I'm giving away a hunting dog or something)

My truck has been sold. It's a fantastic truck that will be in a great home. I couldn't be happier with the buyer and his plan to use it in every way I wished I could. It was a sad day, indeed, but my only hope was to sell it out of state and to someone who would take care of it. Not only did I get that, but also gained a new friend! Hope you all see him around ;):

Saw it on craigslist. Sad to see it go, but excited to see what replaces it. . .:peep:

Don't stay away from the 4th gen section just because you get a 5th gen!

I'll still be around :) No 5th gen in the near future. Not sure what will come.

DAMN! Congrats on the sale man...! I was going to approach you about the 4Runner in the spring if you haven't sold it by then. I'm from VA too :-(

Thank you :) ...though, not a man ;): I must have priced it well cause I had a lot of interest even though it was posted out of state. I secretively hoped it didn't sell until spring so I could have one more go with the snow storms. Always loved playing in the snow!

Hey Terri and everyone else!

Just wanted to quickly introduce myself to you all. Basically I am the guy that bought Terri's truck back in October. Ive been meaning to update this epic build thread for some time but am just now getting around to it. Honestly, this thread is the reason i bought the truck. I read every single post in the whole thread twice when i was in the buying process so to just leave its story unfinished was not an option! The build continues!!

So I was in the market for a T4R for a little while and was scouring autotrader and local dealerships but didnt find anything too interesting until i hopped on this forum and started browsing around.

After contacting Terri and talking to her about the truck we figured everything out and i bought a one way ticket to from Washington DC to Omaha for the next morning.

Here is my Audi s5 that I sold to make way for the T4R. It was a super cool car but maintenance and upkeep were killing me. I like to be able to work on my car and do basic maintenance but i was honestly terrified of attempting to even change the oil on this thing. (12 quarts BTW)

SO THE JOURNEY BEGINS

I got to the airport at like 545am for my 8am flight then get this text message from Terri.

Terri was nice enough to pick me up from the airport and after inspecting the vehicle and doing all the paper work I hit the road. I am pissed you Dave and I didnt get a picture with the truck before I rolled out :bash: How did we not think of that lol

Anyways, so i began on my journey back east and this is the first picture I took of the truck at some rest stop in Iowa. I think i stopped to pee 634 times during this trip.

Second picture and first fill up in the T4R. Note: Terri filled the tank for me before purchase. what a gal! Also, I wont lie it took me like 4 minutes to find the latch then i noticed I was parked on the wrong side.

I drove basically non-stop and the 4runner was a beast! I left Omaha at like 4pm drove until about 3am and began to get super sleepy. I pulled over to get a hotel room then ended up just sleeping in the back of the truck in the parking lot instead. Hit the road again about 90 minutes later and made it to Virginia at about 5pm that day.

Sunrise in Indiana or something like that

To occupy my time during the hellishly boring drive I popped in my ear buds and called basically everyone i knew and talked their faces off. I even re-connected which two friends i had lost contact with to cure my boredom. Luckily during one of my phone calls my friend mentioned i should DL some podcasts to pass the time. I reccommend this for sure if you have a long drive. HOW DID THIS GET MADE is a great one if youre into movies.

Entering Virginia!

Hey Terri and everyone else!

Hey Guy!

Totally forgot about that text message. Still makes me laugh! Have to say that I miss it tons, but rest assure I'm on the lookout now for something new to build :)
Love seeing it and can't wait to watch you grow it even more. Couldn't have picked a better home... with Jackson and all ;)

So right from the start I needed to get the car inspected before I could register it. The third break light had seen better days so it had to be replaced ASAP. The problem was that this isnt an OEM spoiler so i couldnt just go track down a new break light housing.

I cut the wires to free the housing from the spoiler and began to VERY carefully pry the housing apart. I knew this housing was basically impossible to find so i took it apart as if it were the only one in existence. Veryyyyy Slowllyyyy

Only like half of the LEDs worked which would cause me to fail inspection so I purchased a new LED strip from AUTOZONE. Old crappy unit next to new unit.

Epoxyed everything back together and to my surprise it actually worked.
