N-Fab Nerf-Step Running Boards

I'm seeing this as a trend. I just bought some and am thinking about putting on a few layers of paint before I mount them to help deal with the rust issue. What do you think?

mine were painted. the bolt connection points rusted out, however. i'm trying to figure out what to do with them, since I have pulled these things off when my 4runner was traded in.
I planned on using them with the new beast, but I doubt I want to go that route anymore.

yes, did that at a shop I collaborate with quite often.

I am actually dropping my NFabs and Gobi ladder off for LINEX next week. The ladder is only getting the crossbars done, the NFABs are getting completely covered

Please keep me posted on this, I am very interested to see how they come out. Does Line-X have any issues with spraying on all round tubing?

great look- easy mount on my 2011 Trail. but a total rust out with no response from N-Fab. After 2 years full time cleaning / de rusting and repainting every year.

I've seen the new ones for the 10-12 SR5 and limited, but haven't seen them for sale anywhere but NFAB site.

Part number T1164RL got to be a cheaper place than direct.

I have figured out I don't like them...let me explain, the truck is too low to make using the boards practical.

When I step up on them, I have to stoop too low to get in. Essentially the boards do not hang down low enough. They are too high, for me.

I am selling them, if I can get a local buyer, as it is not worth shipping.

I had a 5'1" passenger who LOVED them. but I do agree with you, I never used mine for the appropriate purpose

I agree, two of the younger engineers in our group are 5' and one is 4-10, and they use the boards to get in my truck. My wife is 5-3 and she does not use them.

They do look good on the truck though.

Just installed some N-fabs on my limited today. After reading this thread, 2 things: I will have to see how they hold up to rust, paint looked good out of the box. Also, an installation tip. When I removed both bolts from the front existing bracket to slide the N-fab bracket under the existing bracket, I had a hard time getting the inside bolt back in the threads after the bars were installed. I realized it's easier to just loosen up the inside bolt, and slide the bracket under it, then retighten. Despite what the directions say, it doesn't need to come out.

I was going to sell my stock Rigid running boards and go with these, but if I have to have them Line-X'd on top of the selling price, not sure if its worth it?

Hello, I'm soon to be the owner of a 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4. I want to add black tube running boards. I really like the look of the N-Fab Nerf-Step Running Boards. However, the N-Fab website says they will only work on a TE. I cannot figure out what would be different between an SR5 vs a TE when it comes to mounting these. Has anyone had any experience with installing these? Is there something I'm missing? Seems like they would bolt to the frame so why would they work on a TE but not an SR5? Maybe someone has found a work around on here. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Installed N-Fabs on my 14 SR5 a couple months back everything bolted right up no problem, I ordered them through my store from Transamerican Wholesale out here in CA paid somewhere between 225 and 250 for the pair
