I have a 2003 Limited V8 and over the last 2 days every now and then I hear this clicking noise from under my dash. Si I look and see this round plastic piece that appears to run on the track of some sort moving and clicking ?
What is it and what does it do? This piece is right behind my heater controls on driver foot well behind centre console area. the motor that's running and clicking seems to be the black round piece that has the harness plugged into it and the track is almost pulsing. If that kinda makes sense .

Thanks any help in advance.

according to the schematic, DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY (AIR MIX DAMPER CONTROL SERVO MOTOR)

Is that what controls the circulate inside vs. outside air flow?

No, this is the blend door actuator to control mixture of hot/cold air.

Actuator for BLOWER DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY (AIR INLET DAMPER CONTROL SERVO MOTOR) is located above the blower motor behind the glove box (recirculate mode).

this might be the mystery clicky grindy sound that I've complained about since day one and Toyota could never figure it out so I ignored it.

I can hear it when I first start the vehicle and it goes away after a while.

I'm going to try to find this thing on the weekend.
