~!@#$%^&*() Navigation

Hi Folks,
Don't know if anyone else experienced this but here goes.

Loaded up the family to go from just outside Hartford, CT to Washington DC for a few days. Cruising for about an hour, didn't even hit the NY border and the nav shows that I'm in the middle of nowhere. OK, really overcast so I figure I'm not getting the sats. However, it's now Wednesday night, I'm back home, and still, no functioning nav. However, my wife's little Garmin portable saved the day the whole time.

Is there a reset or something that we can do to reconnect with the satellites????

By the way, 20.5 mpg average, measured the old fashioned way!!

Thanks.

There was a bug in the nav system software in 2006. If you have never changed your factory DVD, then see this thread for a TSB about the problem.

The solution is a new DVD disc. The dealer owes you a new version of the disc that came from the factory per the TSB (if you're still under warranty), or buying a newer map update will also solve the problem.

My parents 2006 4Runner had the same problem. They took it to the dealer and got a replacement for free. So far, no problems at all!

Don't know about the nav, but 20.5mpg on your v8 is great!! How did you manage that? Tail wind?

The nav issue will hopefully be resolved shortly. The dealer "agreed with my diagnosis" and has ordered the nav dvd update.

The 20.5 mpg was done with about a 50/50 split with cruise control on/off with A/C on for about half the time.

Beyond that, can't really explain it...but I'll take it....

Nice milage , I can get that too on the hiway , its damn nice for having a full time 4x4 with a V8 and with todays prices we'll take what we can get.:D

Glad you had a nice safe trip , to bad about the Nav. though it would be a perfect time to have fun with it.
