That is all well and good but for most people that means absolutely nothing. As soon as smoke goes off and people start hearing gun shots their mind goes blank and they enter full panic mode. You cannot simply read an article and have everything under control. That kind of stuff takes training and experience in similar or controlled environments.
I think the best advice would be to live your life as normal as you can and don't be afraid to go places and have fun. There are times when there is nothing that you can do to stop someone from doing something stupid. When the old man (the almighty lord) pulls your number and sends you upstairs, there is nothing you can do about it. It's a fact of life.
I'm not saying to simply roll over and die but there is only so much you can do in a theater packed full of people and only a few exits that are either blocked by nerve gas (or whatever gas he used) and a shooter. Unfortunately, the shooter had the advantage in this situation and he planned his attack. I'm sorry for everyone that was affected by that incident but it is a part of the world we live in.
