NE Ohio

I am in NE Ohio with a 3rd Gen 4x4 SR5.

I had a 2004 Dodge Ram Quad Cab that was crap on snow....finally not wanting to drive it through another Ohio winter, I thought I'd buy a "beater" 4Runner, which could tow a utility trailer, get decent gas mileage, and be very useful in the snow. Then, I'd think about a permanent vehicle in the Spring.

I found this 4runner cheap (black 1998 model), and it's got a solid frame, pretty rust-minimal body, and is all stock. What problems it had; I had repaired, which included new front brakes, new radiator (the old one had NO FINS left on it), new rack-and-pinion, new front stabilizer pins, and new plug wires and boots. The leaking/rusted rear diff cover has been patched with POR-15 and bedliner over that, but otherwise, I've put about 4K miles on it since I got it (it had 174K when I bought it).

The bottom line on all this is that after driving this for a couple months, I love it....GREAT in the snow, fun to drive, and for me, great utility vehicle for my purposes.

Hi to all here, and I read this forum daily, for ideas, tips, tricks, etc.
