Need a bumper.

:happens:

And it happened to me while sitting at a light, minding my own business.

10+ cars behind me, we're all stopped, waiting for the light, and BAM!

The guy behind me had let his foot off the brake and tags me. Anyway, dude was cool, gave me cash a few days later.

My question to you guys is where is the best place to order the center piece of the bumper for a '01 SR5? ( stock chrome bumper) A friend recommended Keystone, any body have any experience with them?

Any of you guys with aftermarket bumpers still have your stocker you wanna' sell? (cheap)

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm in San Diego.

Keystone is pretty good but you have a Certi-Fit there in San Diego and they are inexpensive good quality. Quite a few people have replaced their bumpers from them and also ordered the Sport Hood from them and seem to have the best prices.

Thanks Pikeman, I just looked it up on Certi-Fit, and the price looks good.

The body shops quoted $260+ just for the middle piece of the bumper, and it looks like I can get it at Certi-Fit for either $55 or $75, depending on which pricing column the average Joe gets.

I appreciate it.

So the part is going to cost me $60 with tax, the guy who hit me gave me $360 cash. (Lowest estimate)

So I'm going to get paid $300 to do it myself.:hatsoff:Not bad...

Anybody know how much of a pain this is? Am I gonna' have to take my hitch off to R & R the center section of my bumper?

I took the hitch off, but i dont think it is necessary, you have to remove both side pieces of the bumper via bolts from the underside, then the plastic bumper cover comes off and you have access to more bolts, It isn't hard and the bolts are not hidden, it may just take a while, and i hope your truck doesnt have rust, that will add a bit of time. Im sure if you run into that many problems which i highly doubt maybe ChildrenOfBodom could help you as he isnt too far off from San Diego. But i highly doubt you will need help. Just be careful with the bumpers as you dont want any unnessecary dings or stratches.

Thanks, that's about what I figured.

Hopefully she shouldn't have any rust, it's lived in either SoCal or Phoenix it's whole life.

Hmmm, this might be a good excuse to go buy the air impact I've been wanting.:bluejump:

If it lived its life 20 feet from the ocean there would be rust, but most people won't ever be in that predicament.
