need a shop/dealer that knows KDSS (mid atlantic)

Hey guys, Ive been a member of this community for over a year now as well as a proud owner of a 16 TEP/kdss.

Im slowly working on building my 4runner, most of the stuff i try to install myself (skids, sliders etc) but my knowledge and experience with kdss falls extremely short. Yes ive seen the how to suspension threads and all of that is great information but not quite what im looking for.

My 4runner is my DD and i plan on having it for at least 7 years hopefully 10 years, therefore my extended warranty is very handy. Im planning on getting a good price on the trd suspension kit plus i know its backed up by toyota. (i know i might get bashed for trying to use the trd suspension kit)


So here are my question;
1. Anyone in the mid Atlantic area knows any toyota dealers that are willing and know how to handle a lift with KDSS?(id prefer a dealer so its under warranty)
2. any one know any lift shops around mid Atlantic with KDSS experience?

I'm a new 4R owner in Maryland, and am interested to see what mechanics are recommended. Maybe it is from my VW/Audi roots, but I avoid dealerships at all costs (unless its under warranty)!

Make sure the dealer gives you documentation in writing that having them install the Toyota TRD suspension does not void your warranty - DO NOT take the service managers word for it, if they believe what they say, no problems writing it down.

I wont get into my thoughts on warranties and if it should or should not void it, or even if you should care - its a Toyota not a Land Rover but I don't want you to pay Dealer prices for Labor and Toyota parts to think you are getting something you are not.

ieyou get a KDSS cylinder leak in 10k miles, freak out - trucks falling apart ,go to dealer , they tell you warranty void because non stock suspension - your mad due to a very expensive repair bill.

Nothing wrong with doing your homework though and its not that the TRD is a bad suspension choice its that people will argue for the money there are better options. Sorry I can not answer either of your questions.

[MENTION=96008]Engineer[/MENTION] i completely agree with you, and to be honest i very much enjoy my stock suspension, just looking for a small lift that wouldn't affect my warranty much and obviously there are lots of dealers that simply won't work on kdss equipped vehicles. And i will agree with you that for the price of the trd kit there are better options but thats the one "some" dealers will be ok with installing. i need to find those dealers around the mid atlantic area

I don't understand the major concern with KDSS and a lift. We did this to one of the first TEs back in 2010 and it took 3 guys, some half correct instructions, a case of beer and 3 hours. That truck still runs and rides today like it did then.
