Need advice on possible 4Runner Purchase

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a good New Year. I want to tell all of you thank you in advance for any advice or guidance.

I am considering purchasing a used 4Runner in the very near future. Granted I can afford a new one, but I enjoy not having car payments. I would like to spend 10K or less. I actually enjoy the look of the 3rd Gen the best but most of the ones in my area are at least at the 150K range as far as miles and price varies of course.

This will also be my daily driver. As far as off-roading it will be very limited to light. Hunting, camping, etc. I commute around 30 miles each way.

I also like the 4th Gen T4R's so I am open to those too. I have read through one of the other posts with things to look for when shopping for these but I wanted to get some more opinions from the long time owners on things. Such as at what point of mileage and years should I start to expect things to start falling apart. I would hate to have one nickle and dime me to death but from nearly everything I have ever heard or read these things last forever.

I actually considered offering this guy an even $2K and getting new tires, replacing the windshield, and O2 sensors.

I did read it. It has some great information. I was just looking for opinions from the masses on what generation is preferred or just experiences that could help me decide.

I have two 3rd Gens and love them. I do like the new 5th gen but I'm not big on payments so there you have it. I really do not think the 5th gen could get me the 06 aces my 99 limited with the locker dose either.

If i were in the market right now, I'd be patiently waiting for a good truck to pop up in the classified section here. Lots of well loved, upgraded trucks for sale regularly at or below your price point.

Thanks Brique. There are some good 4Runners in the 4Sale section. I'm thinking about going and taking a look at this one:

It might be a little bit of a project but it may have some serious potential. The problems he has listed are easily fixed and will leave me with a good bit of $$$ for upgrades.
